“Surprise, Surprise, Surprise!”
In light of one of my favorite television programs, Gomer Pyle, I’ll be the first to say it (again), “Surprise, Surprise, Surprise”!
Rev. Bill Friederich, who formerly served as senior pastor of the Longboat Island Chapel until his retirement, has agreed to officially rejoin the Chapel staff as Associate Pastor, beginning immediately. For those of you who know Rev. Bill, I don’t need to tell you about him. In case you don’t know him, I’ll ask you to trust me on this one: Having him officially on staff is a great honor, a true privilege, and a home run for the Chapel.
Rev. Bill’s experience and skill, especially in the area of pastoral care, will be an incredible benefit to the Chapel family. As most of you know, the Chapel is growing. We also recognize that a focus on pastoral care will always be among our highest priorities at the Chapel, so the addition of Rev. Bill to our staff will greatly fill that need.
If you’ve been around the Chapel the last few months, you’ve probably already seen
Rev. Bill. In fact, you have most definitely already seen his lovely wife, Bah, who has assisted Alyssa Adamson in leading worship and choir.
Why dedicate an entire article to this announcement? Because this is really unusual. In pastoral circles, it is almost unheard of that a former pastor would return to a church they served. It’s extremely rare for this to occur, but as Rev. Bill and I have discussed several times, it can only be explained by the simple goodness of God, which is much bigger than our tiny understanding.
Please join me in welcoming Rev. Bill and Bah back to the Chapel to assist me, you, the Chapel staff, and our community as we serve the LORD together. Rev. Bill’s contact information and office hours are provided below. Or, you can catch both him and Bah on Sunday mornings at the Chapel!
God Bless,
Rev. Brock
