What We Can Do Together...
On October 25th of last year, we launched our annual Vic Skolnick Life of Our Cinema Campaign. Hundreds, well over a thousand, of you showed your support for the campaign, donating through our website, through the mail, or even just adding on an extra dollar to your ticket purchase. We were astonished when our campaign concluded at the end of January. We had set a goal to raise $210,000 through the campaign, but we raised over $219,000, exceeding our target! This was our strongest campaign to date! Together, we are keeping the Cinema strong and delivering benefits to our community.
We cannot overstate our gratitude to you all for your continued care for our independent cinema. Our mission since the beginning has always been to make a community — a home — centered on the art and power of film we all hold dear to our hearts. It is always so encouraging and humbling to be reminded of what a strong community has formed in dedication to that mission. We couldn't be here without you all — seriously.
We also want to thank the Alpern Family Foundation from the bottom of our hearts. The Alpern Family Foundation has supported the Cinema Arts Centre for decades, and since 2012, the foundation has helped us expand our culture of giving through a special matching grant for the Life of Our Cinema Campaign. The campaign has grown tremendously with their support over the past 13 years. Their matching contribution makes individual contributions from our community that more impactful and powerful.
Thank you all again so much for your kindness and generosity. Every single donation is crucial to allowing us to continue the work we do, no matter the amount. Our major donors do some of the heavy lifting and are true leaders in our community. However, when it comes to generosity, there is no such thing as "small." When we all show up together, these contributions allow us to keep our doors open for all of us to share conversation, camaraderie, and cinema. We are a true community center, committed to our mission now and for years to come.
