At the University of Illinois Extension, we believe that dignity and respect are foundational to building stronger, more compassionate communities. We invite you to take part in a unique and eye-opening event that honors these values — the Community Action Network Poverty Simulation.

This free workshop offers a profound opportunity to gain insight into the daily challenges faced by those experiencing poverty. By stepping into the shoes of a low-income family member, you will encounter the difficult decisions and stresses that many of our neighbors and community members face. Poverty is not a game and this experience is designed to foster empathy, understanding, and, ultimately, action.

Don’t miss out on this transformative experience! Our next experience will take place on Friday, February 28, 2025 from 9 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. at Rock River Center, 810 South 10th St., Oregon.

Doors for the experience open at 8:30 AM, with the workshop running from 9:00 AM to 12:30 PM. Please register by Friday, February 21.

Lunch is also included.
