Spiritual Advisor's Corner
Father Timothy Sahd
I keep Holy Water in my car for "emergencies" (special blessings, etc). Recently, I needed to bless something when I was out, and grabbed the Holy Water from my car. I attempted to sprinkle it, but it wasn't coming out. I realized it was frozen!
It made me realize that the instruments we use for God's presence on this earth (Sacraments) are all based on matter, and they are bound to physics and the rules of science. Even Holy Water can freeze! Furthermore, it made me realize the truth that we will not have the need for the Eucharist in Heaven, because the True Presence of Jesus in the Eucharist is built on bread and wine. It is dependent on matter. But in Heaven, God is not dependent on matter, or on the rules of physics or science. His Presence is enough.
Am I ready to get rid of things -- everything -- in order to be with Him. Is He enough, or do I need the "extras"? I pray that as we get deeper into Ordinary Time, we desire not passing things, but the things of Eternity! God bless you,
Fr. Sahd
