Anna Johnson serves as the Administrative Assistant at Community Housing and Resources, proudly rooted in her native Sanibel. With a background in education and property management, Anna brings both compassion and deep local knowledge to her work. A Theatre Studies graduate, she infuses creativity into every aspect of life—whether she’s painting with her toddler or crafting designs for CHR. Her role in CHR’s mission to restore and reimagine affordable housing on Sanibel and Captiva is more than a job—it’s a meaningful way to give back to the island that helped shape her.

Angela attended the Miami Natural Disaster Expo in March 2025 to stay informed and ready to prepare, respond, and recover from any future events! 🌪️🌊 Preparation is key—for residents, for properties, and the entire community. 💪🏽🏠🌴

Affordable housing makes living on Sanibel possible for people who otherwise may not be able to, creates diversity on the island, and most importantly, gives a “hand up” to many deserving people.

HAPPY BIRTHDAY to our Executive Director Nicole McHale!!!

Thank you to all the residents who came out for Saint Patty's party! We love spending time with you all!

The CHR Crew! We are so blessed to have these hard-working guys as part of the team!

Second Job Reminder!

The CHR Board is providing an opportunity for our residents that supports the needs of our business community with the option to obtain a second job on Sanibel or at a Sanibel-based business located on Captiva. We have modified the CHR rental agreement to not incur an increase in rent from the income resulting from the second job. This allows our residents to grow their financial stability and support economic recovery for the businesses on the Island.

Please note: To qualify for housing, CHR residents will need to maintain a full-time position on Sanibel Island or at a Sanibel Island-based business (unless otherwise stated in the resident's lease).

Check out our website! You can find it here.

"Be an Eco-Warrior, not an Eco-Worrier" It is very important to be conscious of how we throw away used and unwanted items. There is a Recycling Center on Dunlop Road across from the Library. Click the link to find out more information on how to recycle properly!

Recycling tips

Every community has different recycling “rules” based on their sorting process and sale of recycled materials.

Here are some tips to make recycling more efficient at Lake Palms:

·       Flatten all boxes - even the small ones

·       Clean containers - no food scraps or stains

·       No foam, no plastic bags (some stores will recycle these)

·       Empty bags into the bins. Recyclables will co-mingle and save space
