2024 Year in Review: Chandler economic development stories

The City of Chandler continues to be recognized as a place where businesses go to grow. In fact, our city was named the best place to live, work and play in Arizona in the 2024 edition of Ranking Arizona. Over the last year, we also welcomed many new businesses to our community and celebrated the growth of others. A few of the exciting projects announced in Chandler during 2024 included:


  • Comtech, a global technology leader, relocated its headquarters to Chandler
  • Wedgewood Pharmacy broke ground on a 90,000 SF veterinary pharmacy
  • ACT Medical Park opened, offering cutting-edge medical and research services
  • D.R. Horton purchased a 41,000 SF building to expand its regional operations
  • Penn Foster Group opened its Arizona Center of Excellence
  • Saras Micro Devices opened its new headquarters and manufacturing facility
  • Turbo Resources started a 245,000 SF expansion project in Uptown Chandler

Chandler recognized as one of the best places to find a job

Chandler has been ranked the 7th best place to find a job in a recent nationwide study from leading personal finance outlet WalletHub.com.


WalletHub's analysts compared more than 180 U.S. cities across 31 key indicators of job-market strength. Indicators range from job opportunities to employment growth to monthly average starting salary.


The new ranking reflects the continued growth of Chandler's economy. Chandler has ranked among the top 30 cities on WalletHub's list each of the past 10 years.

ICYMI: 3D Barrier Bags expands with new manufacturing facility

3D Barrier Bags, a leader in the production of customized, high-barrier foil bags, announced the opening of its new manufacturing facility in Chandler. Spanning 22,000 square feet, the facility will serve as a key operational hub for the company as it strengthens its service to customers in the Western United States. The Chandler location will help 3D Barrier Bags meet growing demand for its products in the aerospace, defense and OEM markets.


“Chandler is an ideal location for our new manufacturing facility,” said Ben Lewis, CEO of 3D Barrier Bags Inc. “The city’s growing industrial base, coupled with its proximity to key markets, allows us to better serve the needs of our clients. Mark your calendars for the 2025 Chandler Innovation Fair

Join the City of Chandler in celebrating the exploration of invention by attending the Chandler Innovation Fair. This annual event showcases businesses, artists, students and innovators in the community as Chandler participates in the statewide Arizona SciTech Festival. This year's festivities will be held in Downtown Chandler on Saturday, Feb. 22, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.


Now in its 14th year, the city is again partnering with the Chandler Unified School District's Innovation Fair, which brings about greater district participation. This free event offers unique opportunities for attendees to explore the discoveries of science engineered in their own backyard and taught in Chandler Unified schools.


Local K-12 schools and organizations have once again been invited to participate in the Annual Chandler Innovation Fair Competition. Six winning teams will be awarded a $500 prize that will be presented to their school's science club or program for the most educational, most creative and most passionate projects.


This year's event is anticipated to be bigger than ever with more than 100 exhibitors from local technology companies and schools registered to participate.

ASU Chandler Innovation Center supports students, local entrepreneurs

Chandler Endeavor is a free business incubator program sponsored by the city and managed by community entrepreneurship leaders from ASU's J. Orin Edson Entrepreneurship + Innovation Institute. The program was recently highlighted in an ASU News article on how the ASU Chandler Innovation Center and partnership with the city is supporting students and local entrepreneurs.


“With us being the city of innovation, Chandler had this idea of how we can create this space for not only our residents, but entrepreneurs across the Valley to be able to come into our space and launch their ideas,” said Chandler Councilmember Angel Encinas.


“And with ASU’s participation and involvement, we’re bringing in people from across the Valley, and hopefully, once they're launching their businesses or their ideas, they’ll be able to scale up and have those businesses here in Chandler.”
