Spring is strutting its stuff at the National Arboretum! Lilacs and dogwood trees are starting to bloom, and flowering cherry trees continue to bloom throughout the grounds.
To see lilacs, check out the research fields located due east and right around the corner from the Capitol Columns. This Google Maps link will help you navigate directly to the field.
Explore the Dogwood Collection to appreciate the myriad of dogwood varieties on display from now through June. This collection is located on the Arboretum's eastern edge, between the Gotelli Conifer and Asian Collections. This Google Maps link will help you navigate to the Dogwood Collection.

Due to the wide variety of flowering cherry trees at the Arboretum — all with different bloom times — cherry trees are in different stages of bloom and leaf through late April. Download the Arboretum's Beyond the Tidal Basin self-guided tour to help direct your discovery.
Colors are starting to show in the Azalea Collections, and blooms will continue to emerge in the coming weeks. There's plenty of time to enjoy them! Please note that many people visit the Arboretum on the weekends during the spring.

Last admittance to the National Arboretum grounds will now be at 4:30 PM each day. The National Arboretum's grounds remain open to the public from 8 AM to 5 PM every day except December 25th.
Starting at 4:30 PM each day, visitors can only use the R Street Gate to exit the Arboretum. The New York Avenue gate will be closed to both entry and exit starting at 4:30 PM.

Our Garden Fair & Plant Sale on Saturday, April 26th is an exciting and significant event! As one of FONA's biggest annual fundraisers, this event helps us preserve the Arboretum and support programs that inspire the discovery of plants and nature.
Each week leading up to the event, we'll share different facets of the Garden Fair & Plant Sale. This week, we'd like to introduce you to the event vendors* and what they will sell in the Vendor Village. These vendors will be open from 9 AM to 4 PM on April 26th.

| | * Vendors are subject to change. | | | Volunteer at the Garden Fair! |
Want to join the Garden Fair & Plant Sale volunteer team? We need volunteers to price and move plants during the week before the event. We also need volunteers to help at the event as greeters, cashiers, plant experts, shopping cart wranglers, and more.
FONA could not host this event without the incredible support of volunteers. Fill out our volunteer interest form and we’ll get back to you soon with more information.
