Recruiting Our Future At NCLC

As we do every year, David Grover, Bob Grover, Adam Flint, Corey Petersen, Montana Barrows, Mauricio Flores, Carinda Washburn, Kenna Tyler, Brittany Wright, and Darlene McConville attended the National Association of Landscape Professionals (NALP) National Collegiate Landscape Competition (NCLC), at Colorado State University in Ft. Collins, Colorado this past week.

In addition to attending the competition and career fair, David Grover serves as chair of the NALP committee. We are proud of you, David, for leaning in and supporting our profession with your leadership!

This is a phenomenal industry event hosted by our association to support the colleges and universities that are developing the future talent of our profession. The three-day event brought together over 700 students from 60 colleges and universities, along with 80 companies from across the country. The event includes a career fair where students apply for internships and full-time positions following graduation.

There are also 45 competitive events that individuals and colleges compete in. It’s an incredible opportunity for companies like Pacific to engage with universities and students. It’s also a phenomenal opportunity for students to connect with industry companies as they pursue careers in this great profession. Many of the managers on our staff—including David Grover, Corey Petersen, Montana Barrows, Megan Johnson, Molly Rios Nogales, Matt Silcox, Doug Crimin, Octavio Gonzalez, Mauricio Flores, Nicole Young, Josh Weismiller, and Carinda Washburn—attended this event during their time in school.

We also proudly sponsor the teams from Oregon State University, Portland Community College, Clackamas Community College, Spokane Community College, Colorado State University, and Cal Poly San Luis Obispo.

We also celebrated the awarding of the Grover Family Scholarship to Emily Bonazzola, a junior at Oregon State University. Over 75 scholarships were presented at the event, supporting students studying to enter this great profession.
