“ After they had heard the king, they went on their way, and the star they had seen when it rose went ahead of them until it stopped over the place where the child was.”
-Matthew 2:9
Friends, Happy New Year! I write this letter to you still feeling a bit of afterglow from our Epiphany service yesterday. I’ll miss asking each of you your star words on the way out of worship and waiting to see who has found the baby in their king cake! But like every year, I came away from yesterday in the tradition of the Wise Men, with a star word to guide me...

The Crayon Initiative: Missions will be collecting unwanted crayons to donate to The Crayon Initiative. There will be a box in the narthex soon where you can put them. We will then take them to a Staples store where they ship them to this organization.
About The Crayon Initiative:
The Crayon Initiative is a non-profit organization dedicated to preserving the environment and enriching the lives of hospitalized children through art and imagination. Through our work, we reduce environmental waste by remanufacturing used crayons into new ones and donating them to art programs in children’s hospitals across the country. Through these art therapy programs, The Crayon Initiative helps kids heal through creative expression. The Crayon Initiative has collected 11.5 million used crayons from restaurants, schools and homes. More than 100,000 pounds of crayons have been prevented from going into landfills. The Crayon Initiative has helped over 50,000 kids through creative expression in over 90 hospitals across 25 states.

To My Mom's family at "High Church"
I would like to take this opportunity to thank you all who came to her celebration of life. It was wonderful tribute to a beautiful lady. Thank you Pastor Gaye for the beautiful words that you spoke. They were beautiful.
A special thank you goes out to the wonderful luncheon you served. It was delicious. Some friends of Mom's commented on the feast that was served and the desserts. They said that for a small, country church they couldn't believe all the desserts. I told them that when you asked members to bring something they always come through. Once again, thank you. You could tell Mom was dearly loved.
In closing, I know Mom was smiling down from heaven holding hands with my Dad and saying "Good job, everyone."
Once again, thanks for everything.
