Epona's Hope Too Fast Again As She Wires Captiva Island

Florida-bred Epona's Hope seemed to have two lengths on her rivals before the bell on the starting gate stopped ringing then romped home to win the $110,500 Captiva Island at Gulfstream Park. It was the second straight stakes victory and third win consecutive overall for Epona’s Hope, who in addition to the $58,880 winner’s prize money, took down $10,500 in Florida-bred bonus money presented by Florida Thoroughbred Breeders’ and Owners’ Association.

R Morning Brew To Make 2025 Debut in Any Limit Stakes

R Morning Brew, winner of the $100,000 Desert Vixen last year in the first leg of the filly division of the FTBOA Florida Sire Stakes in September, will make her first start of the year Sunday at Gulfstream Park in the $115,000 Any Limit for 3-year-old fillies. The six-furlong test has attracted a field of seven and includes a $15,000 Florida-bred bonus presented by the Florida Thoroughbred Breeders’ and Owners’ Association.

This Day in Florida Thoroughbred History - Captain Bodgit Becomes 12th Florida-bred Winner of the Florida Derby

MARCH 15, 1997-Team Valor International's Captain Bodgit and jockey Alex Solis came from far back, circled the field in far turn then went past fellow Florida-bred Frisk Me Now at the sixteenth pole to become the 12th Florida-bred winner of the Grade 1 Florida Derby at Gulfstream Park.
