Guide to Submission: Important Deadlines , Paperwork, and more!

Hi Future Innovators!


The paperwork submission period for the Massachusetts High School Science & Engineering Fair is quickly approaching, and we’re here to guide you every step of the way so that you don't lose track of important deadlines for submission! Keep reading this newsletter for more information on:


  • Which forms you need to submit
  • Important deadlines and reminders
  • Future opportunities for you!


With these tools, you’ll be ready to bring your project to life and make a real impact! As you progress, please remember to keep your teacher up to date with your progress and questions!

Which Forms Should I Fill Out?


All Students: Regardless of your project topic, all students must fill out:

  • Form 1A
  • Form 1B
  • Form 1


Pre-Approval for Restricted Projects: Projects involving restricted materials (e.g., specific chemicals or human subjects) need pre-approval before experimentation. Use the Decision Grid below to determine which additional forms are required for your project. You can also find the Decision Grid on the last page of our High School Manual!


Additionally, please remember that form 3 is in the paperwork packet because it is encouraged for all projects. You can find the official paperwork packet here!

Important Deadlines & Reminders



December 15, 2024: Submission deadline for projects requiring Forms 3, 4, 5, or 6.


January 15, 2025: Final deadline for all other projects.


And remember, patience is key! Our wonderful SRC will be working hard to carefully review each submission. If you have any questions about this, please feel free to contact student@scifair.com.

  • Teacher must review your paperowrk submission and 'Mark Ready' in zFairs


  • Keep an eye out on your account for follow-up questions

Summer Internships and More

MassBioEd has compiled a living document with various summer STEM internship opportunities, regularly updated to include application dates, deadlines, and whether internships are paid or unpaid. This resource is designed to help students explore potential career paths in STEM fields.


Scholarship Opportunity

In partnership with Scholarship America, the Collegium Pharmaceutical Collegium Scholarship Program offers two full-ride scholarships for Massachusetts high school seniors planning to major in STEM fields, including healthcare. The deadline for applications is January 16, 2025, at 4 p.m. ET. Find more details here.


Girl’s STEM Summit at Regis College

The Girl’s STEM Summit, hosted by Jr. Tech, will take place at Regis College on April 27th, 2025, for students in grades 8 through 12. Registration is $85, and students from ACCESS schools can apply for scholarships through MassBioEd. For more details, check the registration page and keep an eye out for updates in the January newsletter.


This event is open to all students who identify as female, non-binary, or other gender identities or expressions.
