Dr. Tiffany Palozzi—A Lifeline for Pets in Need
| |
We are incredibly grateful for the unwavering support of Dr. Tiffany Palozzi, a dedicated veterinarian, long-time FACE donor and volunteer, and passionate advocate for animal welfare. Dr. Palozzi understands the deep bonds we forge with our pets. A close friend of FACE co-founder Cini Gannon Robb, she remembers when Cini and another co-founder, Dr. Keith Richter, first started talking about starting an organization to prevent economic euthanasia. Working in the veterinary ER, Tiffany witnessed FACE’s impact firsthand when animals needed lifesaving care that their family’s couldn’t afford. She guided many people through the FACE application process, working closely with our staff to coordinate care, and saw relief and joy on all sides when another animal was saved.
In 2017, Dr. Palozzi founded Loving Hands Veterinary Services to provide compassionate in-home euthanasia and after-care for pets. Guided by her deep compassion for animals, Tiffany makes a donation to FACE in memory of each of her pet patients, knowing that her contributions will help give another animal a second chance at life – and more time with their beloved families.
In addition to supporting FACE, Dr. Palozzi recently joined Cini Gannon Robb, Dr. Kim Pike, Dr. Fred Pike, and other volunteers to provide free animal evaluations and supplies for Pawtcake Refuge, a nonprofit that rescues stray and abandoned dogs from the streets of Nassau, Bahamas.
Thank you, Dr. Palozzi, for being
an incredible champion for pets and their families!

Whoa, my tummy had a major meltdown! Turns out I got curious about something I shouldn't have. My mom was super worried, and we went to a big place where they fixed me up, but then they said I needed to stay in a 24-hour place that cost a lot of kibble! Happily, the amazing team at FACE swooped in to save the day! Now, I'm back home, full of happy wiggles and snuggles, so incredibly grateful for my amazing mom and those wonderful, life-saving helpers!

Ouch! My little leg got all broken, and the nice vets said it had to go. My family was so sad, and their faces looked all worried. They've been working so hard to make ends meet, and this big surgery cost way too many kitty treats! But then, the kind folks at FACE Foundation came along! Now, I'm a three-legged wonder, bouncing and playing like nothing happened. I'm so happy to be pain-free, thanks to my amazing family and the wonderful people who helped me!

An in-kind donation is a non-cash gift made to a nonprofit organization. These contributions can be made in the form of time, services, expertise, and goods. Because in-kind donations don’t come in the form of physical cash, they can be confusing when it comes to recordkeeping. These donations are recorded by the organization as monetary values, determined by the fair market price they’d otherwise pay for the goods or service received.
The most common in-kind gift is that of appreciated assets – stocks, real estate, etc. Rather than gifting cash, the donor makes a gift of an in-kind donation of marketable securities, capital assets or life insurance. Other popular in-kind donations we receive at FACE are items for Wag N' Purr Shop, our online resale boutique, such as gently used designer handbags, fine jewelry, and other accessories. The largest in-kind donors to FACE are its veterinary partners, who actively offer their services below their regular pricing to ensure the mission is fulfilled.
When it comes to in-kind donations, there are advantages, disadvantages and strategies to be aware of. Be sure to consult with a tax advisor to make the most of your giving.

With the helpful assistance of one of our amazing volunteers who helped prep our much-needed pet food supply bags, we had the opportunity to participate in two San Diego Community Care events in February. During these events, we distributed essential pet supplies to nearly 100 pet owners in need within the underserved El Cerrito and Point Loma communities.
