Parasha Vayakel
Shabbat Parah
SHABBAT SHALOM
שבת שלום
DAY 533
We continue to hope and pray for the release of the hostages.
They are front and center in our minds.
May God protect them from further harm.
May God shield the soldiers of the IDF so that they too,
can return back to their loved ones, in safety and wholeness.
AMEN!
Parasha Sheet sponsored by Philip and Heather Kibel to commemorate the Yahrzeit of Philip's father, Ben Kibel z"l
Torah on Monday with Rabbi Malomet
Moses delivers instructions for the sanctuary, and the people leave without speaking. Why are they silent? Perhaps they were eager to contribute to the sacred project or maybe they were still traumatized from the recent violence following the golden calf incident. Maybe they were forgiven and happy to contribute. There are different motivations for giving. It was true then, it is true now. Give a watch.
Parasha Talk
Day 531. We pray for the release of the hostages.
Vayakhel is about the making of the sanctuary. But before that there is the donation of all the materials. There is some fascinating interpretation of why the people give, what the story is behind their giving. And specifically, the degree of intimacy in their giving. Give a watch or a listen to find out. Shabbat Shalom!

MORNING MINYAN NEEDS SOME SUPPORT!
On-line or In-person
We're grateful to our minyan "regulars" but even they sometimes can't be here. We want to be sure we have a morning minyan every day; we know those saying kaddish are especially appreciative. Morning services are egalitarian.
Using "SIGNUP GENIUS" Please sign up for an available slot; these slots are the number Sheldon anticpates will be needed to have a minyan. (If you're a "regular" please check with Sheldon to confirm whether he included you in his count.")
The dates listed are those that we know some of our "regulars" will not be present. All are welcome to join us for services any day, not just those listed. And you do not have to sign up to attend.
And of course, please consider making morning and/or evening minyan part of your normal routine!

"OCTOBER 8 offers a look at the explosion of antisemitism on college campuses, social media and in the streets of America beginning the day after the October 7th attack on Israel by Hamas. Through meticulous investigation, the film also uncovers how over decades, Hamas created sophisticated networks in America to permeate U.S. institutions and examines the tsunami of online antisemitism, propaganda, and disinformation unleashed by Iran, China and Russia – with the sole purpose of dividing American society."
Originally only playing in local theaters until March 20, it's been extended through at least March 27. Click here for ticket information.

SCREAMS BEFORE SILENCE
Never-before-heard eyewitness accounts from released hostages, survivors, and first responders.
During the October 7 attacks on Israeli towns and at the Nova Music Festival, women and girls were raped, assaulted, and mutilated. Released hostages have revealed that Israeli captives in Gaza have also been sexually assaulted.
Despite the indisputable evidence, these atrocities have received little scrutiny from human rights groups and international organizations. Many leading figures in politics, academia, and media have attempted to minimize or even deny that they occurred. In Screams Before Silence, a 60-minute, presenter-led documentary film, Sheryl Sandberg, former COO of Meta and founder of LeanIn.org, interviews multiple eyewitnesses, released hostages, first responders, medical and forensic experts, and survivors of the Hamas massacres.
