We are so very excited to host a special event in collaboration with New Park Brewing to celebrate the release of a highly limited and rare beer from their acclaimed Expression Series. This exclusive release showcases innovative hops that are new to the craft beer industry, making it a must-try for all of you beer enthusiasts. Manilita hops will have the spotlight shone on them with this beer, this vibrant hop variant from New Zealand offers a bold citrus and citrus zest flavor profile with more gentler notes of grapefruit, papaya and red berries.
As one of the few locations receiving this beer—and with a larger allocation than any other store—we are thrilled to offer you the opportunity to experience it firsthand.

Scotch Ale
Little House once again takes their traditional Scotch Ale style base and creates a decadent and unique brew for us to enjoy. This ale is rested on cacao, vanilla and a hint of marshmallow fluff to capture the classic and beloved Easter treat of chocolate covered marshmallow bunnies! Little House said it best themselves, this is liquid holiday magic and has a particular nostalgia that brings you back to Easter morning. It is rich, it is full bodied and is nothing short of a treat. Cheers!

WHAT IS A SCOTCH ALE?
Scotch Ales, a beer that is a member of the "Strong Ale" family, originated in Edinburgh Scotland in the 1800's. This style heavily drew inspiration from traditional English strong ales, but are known for their higher ABV and distinct full bodied character. At this time, hops weren't very readily available in Europe, resulting in brewers utilizing malt and developing the classic European styles we know and love today! Malt forward beers result in a rich and, you guessed it, malty flavor profile, with notes of toffee, caramel and chocolate. While the fine details in flavor are determined by both the variety of malt used and the roasting technique on them, you can expect to savor those tasting notes amongst many more as more modern brewers have explored this style further and pushed its limits.
Brewing in Scotland has its roots all the way back in Medieval times, brewing was often a domestic activity people found themselves enjoying. As time has gone on, many still hold the traditional Scotch Ales close while others indulge in the modernization of the style! As Little House has done, current craft brewers have explored ways to hold true to the high ABV, malt forward profile of a Scotch Ale while experimenting with how far they can push the existing flavor profile to create a unique take on this classic brew. A traditional Scotch Ale pairs very well with roasted meats such as chicken, turkey and lamb as well as toasted grains, earthy vegetables and smoked cheeses. However, they can also make a fantastic pairing with dessert, the maltiness can cut through more decadent options like crème brûlée while the caramel and toffee flavors pair beautifully with richer desserts like cheesecake, bread pudding and ice cream. Which, it would seem, has created a trend of leaning heavily into sweet flavors when craft breweries dip their toe in the Scotch Ale pool!
Scotch Ales were officially dictated as their own style in the 18th century as commercial breweries began to emerge. This lead to the distinction of this style, both Traquair and Belhaven brewery are to thank for putting them properly on the map. As I am sure many of you know by now, it has become an ever growing trend in the craft world to take the base of these classic styles, the very backbones of brewing, and push the limits of creativity! Looking outside of the box when it comes to such historic beers has kept these styles alive and Little House's take on a Scotch Ale is sincerely one of my very favorites.
