Exclusive Report: Thousands of Moreno Valley Residents and Boxing Fans Gather to Welcome Robert Garcia Boxing Academy's Newest Location

On Saturday, March 8, Mayor Ulises Cabrera, Mayor Pro Tem Elena Baca-Santa Cruz, and the Moreno Valley Chamber of Commerce cut the ribbon at the Robert Garcia Boxing Academy.

Founded by 1998 Super Featherweight Champion Boxer and 2024 Trainer of the Year, Robert Garcia, this boxing gym will train and develop MoVal youth, local amateurs, and professional boxers to be champions both in and out of the ring. 

Fans attending the ribbon cutting got a first look at the new state-of-the-art gym and met some of their favorite boxing champions.

Exclusive Report: MoVal Youth Families Enjoyed the City's First Adaptive Egg Hunt

On Saturday, March 15, Moreno Valley celebrated the arrival of Spring with the city’s first-ever “Sunshine Eggstravaganza Adaptive Egg Hunt,” a sensory-friendly experience designed for kids ages 3 -13.

The event featured springtime-themed games and activities and an indoor egg hunt with three different themes tailored to unique needs, allowing every child, regardless of physical or cognitive ability, to share in the excitement of the season.

Events like the Sunshine Eggstravaganza Adaptive Egg Hunt provide heartwarming experiences that celebrate diversity while making it fun and rewarding for everyone.

Moreno Valley’s Sunshine Adaptive Programs and classes provide a collection of creative arts, social events, and specialized fitness programs.

Calling All Eggspert Egg Hunters!

Spring is around the corner, and there's no better way to kick off the season than our annual Springtastic Festival & Egg Hunt on Saturday, April 12, from 9 a.m. to noon at Sunnymead Park, located at 12655 Perris Blvd.

Springtastic is a fun and family-friendly event featuring festival games, a Youth Fun Zone, delicious food, and a special egg hunt!

Egg Hunt times:

• 9:15 a.m. (Ages 2-5, one guardian per child allowed on the field)
• 9:45 a.m. (Ages 6-8, children with special needs, no guardians on the field)
• 10:15 a.m. (Ages 9-12, no guardians on the field)

C'mon, C'mon, Get Campy!

Valley Day Camp is designed to help campers between the ages of 3 and 12 reconnect to familiar camp leaders and other campers in Moreno Valley.

Participants enjoy a variety of games, music, arts and crafts, and recreational activities. Two snacks are provided daily.

Registration is available at the Conference & Recreation Center, located at 14075 Frederick Street. Online registration is available after first-time registration is completed at the Conference & Recreation Center.

Dates and Cost:

• First week: March 24 – 28 ($135/week resident or $175/week non-resident)
• Second week: April 1 – 4 ($108/week resident or $145/week non-resident)

Time:

Monday - Friday from 7 a.m. to 6 p.m.

Moreno Valley Conference and Recreation Center, 14075 Frederick Street.

Our Pet of the Week is Billie, a one-year-old, female black and tan Shepherd-Basset Hound mix.

Billie's gentle style, easy-going "fursonality," and her affectionate nature are a great fit for a family looking for a younger dog that is wise beyond her years. She is very attentive, comfortable on a leash, and eager to learn lots of fun tricks!
