Spring Has Sprung

Walking around birdland yesterday, I saw so many happy families out enjoying the sunshine. Gardeners in their front yards, weeding, kids at the park, dogs prancing about - it really feels like spring! I'm sure we will get some more wet weather to keep the grass green and help pop up even more flowers, but for now, Iet's bask in the sun and celebrate the first official days of spring.

Join Michael Bogart at the Cabin this Saturday, March 22nd, for Garden Talk - he'll have tons of spring planting inspiration.

Spaghetti Bingo is tonight - we look forward to seeing lots of happy kids there. We've got yummy food and fun prizes.

Fabrice Florin will be here on Tuesday, March 25th to talk about Creating Your Green Home. RSVP below and join us for another informative Tam Valley Tuesdays Speaker Series.

We have so much good stuff coming up! I hope you can join us for some or all of our events.

Wishing you a safe and joy filled weekend!

TRASH TALK

From Zero Waste Marin - Spring Planting and Compost

Looking forward to a vibrant spring? We may not all have a green thumb, but we can all help improve the health of Marin’s gardens and farms. Compost is nature’s way of recycling and gives our old food scraps and yard debris new life by transforming them into a nutrient-rich soil additive. This not only helps reduce the amount of waste going into our landfills, but creates a circular system where the food that once fed us can support new plants in our gardens and farms!

Why Compost?

Composting does so much more than improve your soil and grow healthier plants – it also has a significant positive impact on the environment! Composting is a simple, daily action that helps us fight landfill greenhouse gas emissions and turns our food scraps into a valuable resource for Marin County.

Earth Day - SAVE THE DATE

We will have compost available for pick up in April at the Tam Valley Community Center so keep an eye out for that delivery around Earth Day and save the date for our Earth Day celebration on April 26th were we will be screening Common Ground - a documentary about soil health and how it has the potential to have a hugely positive impact on climate change. Join us to learn just how powerful healthy soil is!
