2025 Village Election Results: Uncontested
Town Center Village: 2025 Election Results
The Town Center Residential Community Association (TCCA) Board of Directors congratulates Mr. Richard Tettlebaum.
TCCA had one candidate for two seats on the Village Board of Directors, Mr. Tettlebaum. Pursuant to an amendment to Section 2.03 of the Town Center By-Laws, approved on April 18, 1998, when the election is uncontested for the Board of Directors, the nominees are deemed elected and the Board of Directors shall appoint them to the available director positions.
The deadline for applications was 12:00 PM (noon) March 2nd. The two-year term for the nominee will be May 1, 2025-April 30, 2027.
Please note that as the race was not CONTESTED there will not be a candidate forum on April 10 and there will NOT be an election in Town Center on April 26, 2025.

Opposition From the Community to CA Proposals Regarding All Village Buildings
At the last Columbia Association Board of Directors Meeting on February 27, CA staff (Jackie Tuma, Director of Audit and Advisory Services) presented a proposal evaluating various options to take over central management of all villages' community buildings. Refer to the presentation HERE.
The CA staff presentation addressed the CA Board goal of: "Evaluate CA assuming management of the buildings currently managed by the village community associations, evaluate opportunities and challenges for both CA and the villages, and develop a plan for Board consideration."
There was strong opposition from residents who testified as well as many CA Board Members (from 27:18 of the Youtube video for one hour). The villages are independent corporations' setup to benefit their residents and provide unique services and programs for their communities. Many in the community agree that they do not want CA involved in any centralized system to manage/sell meeting space/events as villages can do that as a collective group quite easily and keep 100% of the revenue. James Rouse intended that all villages and their boards have independent control of their village without interference.
One of our neighboring villages, River Hill, started a petition to voice their displeasure with the CA staff's latest proposal: Click HERE.
Every few decades the CA staff resurrect this issue in some form or fashion. The last time it was done was during 2020 through various meetings and presentations.

Fun Facts that everyone needs to know. This week is again about March and Women's History Month...
February 28, 1909 marked the first Woman's History Day in New York City. That evolved in to Women's History Week in 1978 and then it became Women's History Month in 1987 across the nation.
The 2022 theme of the National Women's History Alliance is “Providing Healing, Promoting Hope” The theme is both a tribute to the ceaseless work of caregivers and frontline workers during this ongoing pandemic and also a recognition of the thousands of ways that women of all cultures have provided both healing and hope throughout history.
The 19th amendment, which granted women the right to vote, was signed into law on Aug. 26, 1920. But at the time, a number of other laws prohibited Native American women, Black women, Asian American women, and Latinx women from voting, among others. It wasn't until 1965, when President Lyndon B. Johnson signed the Voting Rights Act into law, that discriminatory tactics such as literacy tests were outlawed, and all women could vote.
Until Congress passed the Equal Credit Opportunity Act of 1974, women couldn't get credit cards in their own name. Legal work done by late Supreme Court Justice Ruth Bader Ginsburg laid the foundation for the Equal Credit Opportunity Act.
More women earn college degrees than men (57 percent of bachelor's degrees).

Top Safety Tips: Add AirTags or Tiles To Your Car To Track Your Vehicles!
Resident safety is critical. A few tips from the Howard County Police Department (HCPD):
1) By dialing 911 for emergencies and in progress incidents, or to have an Officer dispatched to a location.
2) By dialing 410-313-2200, this is the HCPD (non-emergency) dispatch number. 410-290-Drug (Drug tip line) and 410-313-STOP (Anonymous Tip Line).
3) www.hcpd.org, There is a section of the website near the bottom where you can file an on-line report. Details for filing a report are explained on the website. If you do NOT report it, then HCPD can not investigate it.
4) Lock your cars, homes, garage doors and apartments as a lot of crime involves "crimes of opportunity" where thieves test for unlocked doors.
5) Tools for community associations, groups and residents CLICK HERE for Community Outreach.
6) Put an Apple AirTag or Tile (for Andriod phones) in your car to track your car if it is ever stolen.
7) It is "porch pirate" time everyday so protect all of your deliveries.
