Madly Marching to Matching

It's nearly time! We are gearing up for our biggest single fundraiser of the year! We hope you're planning to be a part of our Match Madness festivities sponsored and supported by the Partnership for Better Health.

Each March, you can maximize your giving to the Charles Bruce Foundation. Many of you already have in past Match Madness drives, allowing us to take full advantage of the partnership's matching funds.

We'll be reminding you of this wonderful opportunity to support childhood literacy, social justice publishing, music and entertainment for the good of others and our annual #memorialblanket project. As you can imagine, we'll be sending reminders, QR codes, and detailed instructions to help you help us increase our impact in the community.

Taking to the Road, Part I

How about a Black History month road trip? Unless you're already from Richmond, Indiana; in that case, we'll see you there! The Charles Bruce Foundation is celebrating the civil rights movement of the 1960's and 70's with an event at the Morrison-Reeves Library.

While writing her new book, Humble Pie, Pat LaMarche had the enviable opportunity to interview a close friend of Martin Luther King Jr. and his family. That friendship helped make Richmond, Indiana, one of the most welcoming and respectful places for people of all races and ethnicities in the state.

If you, like us, happen to be on the road in Indiana next week, please join us for a discussion with Jackie Sawyer and her children about the role food plays in social justice, and their personal experiences working for civil rights. If you’d like to learn more about Jackie and don’t yet have a copy of Humble Pie, use the link below to secure yours.

Taking to the Road, Part II

Gonna be in Indianapolis this month and desperately in need of a piece of cake? The Charles Bruce Foundation has you covered!

Be sure to join us for a book signing and birthday reception (here's where the cake comes in) for Marc Leeds at the Kurt Vonnegut Museum and Library on February 21 (details below in Upcoming Events).

Can't make it Friday night, or can't get enough of Marc Leeds (we understand on both counts)? You’ll have another opportunity to spend some time with Marc on the afternoon of February 22. Indy Reads, an independent nonprofit bookstore, will host him as he uses the knowledge gained from writing The Vonnegut Encyclopedia to quiz Indy natives about one of their favorite sons. He will also be signing and selling copies of his first-ever children's picture book, The Doody Story: Or, Potty Ecology, published by the Charles Bruce Foundation. If you still haven't gotten your copy of this lovely picture book and won't have the opportunity to meet Marc in Indianapolis next week, use the link below to get one.
