Call to Prayer & Self Denial Service - March 11
United Women in Faith all over the world will be centering their Call to Prayer and Self-Denial Services this year around the theme “Bold Women Transforming Communities.” We are very fortunate that one of those “bold women,” Tess Frear, will be our speaker.
Trying to raise children while constantly worrying about a small or nonexistent supply of diapers and other basic essentials is the reality for many East Tennessee families. “Connecting Helping Mamas to Mamas Needing Help” is the mission of Helping Mamas Knoxville. Executive Director Tess Frear will share the miraculous nature of this organization during our annual Call to Prayer and Self-Denial service. A small staff backed by an army of volunteers distributes thousands of items to over 70 partner agencies who give these ordinary but extraordinary supplies to families in need. Join us to learn about this Knoxville-based organization that personifies our UWF motto of faith, hope, and love in action.
We hope you will join us for this special Call to Prayer and Self-Denial service and luncheon! Please call the church office by Friday, March 7 to register for lunch. Lunch will be $15 and you may pay online, drop a check by the office or pay in-person day-of.

Church Street awarded East Tennessee Foundation's Neighbor to Neighbor grant |
The damage caused by Hurricane Helene has left families with unimaginable costs to repair and replace their homes. Many caught in the damage of the flooding have been left without the means to move forward.
In an effort to supplement some of the resources needed to help families move forward, several Church Street UMC members submitted a grant proposal to the East Tennessee Foundation's Neighbor to Neighbor disaster relief fund. As a result, Church Street was awarded $30,000 to be used for home repairs in Johnson County, TN. This award will go a long way in helping a few families get back into their homes; what a blessing.
For more information about upcoming work trips to Johnson County, TN, please get in touch with Marc Gamble at mgamble@churchstreetumc.org.

Church Street Missions Fair - March 23
Join us on March 23 for a Mission Fair sponsored by the Church Street UMC Mission Committee. Many of our community mission and ministry partners will be available in the Church Life Center to share how they are making a difference in our community and how Church Street is engaged with each. Representatives from Wesley House Community Center, Family Promise, Dogwood Elementary, The Wesley Foundation, and others will be present.
In addition to visiting with ministry partners, you'll have the opportunity to participate in assembling UMCOR Flood Buckets, Food Buckets for Zimbabwe, and UMCOR Hygiene Kits. All are welcome to participate in these hands-on mission projects during Sunday School, 9:45 - 10:45, on March 23 in the church gym.

Get Principled!
Monthly blurbs about the UMC Social Principles,
Sponsored by Church & Society Committee
| |
Did you know that the United Methodist Church has a Social Principle concerning immigration?
We affirm the worth, dignity, and inherent value and rights of all persons regardless of their nationality or legal status. United Methodist churches throughout the United States are urged to build bridges with migrants in their local communities, to learn from them, celebrate their presence in the United States and recognize and appreciate the contributions in all areas of life that migrants bring. Some programs currently operating in our community to assist our immigrants include The Center for English (language tutoring), The Bridge program (assistance for newly arriving immigrants, AKIN-Allies of Knoxville’s Immigrant Neighbors , and Centro Hispano among other program locally.
Learn more about the Social Principles here.
