First Sunday of Advent
Advent Festival, 9:15 - 10:10 AM
"But those who hope in the Lord will renew their strength.” Isaiah 40:31
This Sunday we begin a new Christian year and light the Hope Candle on the Advent wreath, also known as the Prophecy Candle. We are reminded to prepare our hearts for the foretold birth of Jesus and the hope associated with the Messiah. Come kick off this season of expectation at 9:15 AM in the Parish Hall with Advent Wreath making, ornament creation, crafts, and fellowship. This is an intergenerational offering open to all. Bring your wreath holder from last year or purchase one from us. ($5 for a wreath holder and $5 for Advent candles).

Pageant Rehearsal, 12:00 in the Sanctuary
Pageant rehearsals continue this Sunday (and next Sunday) from 12:00 - 12:30 PM, and there will be a final dress rehearsal on Saturday, December 14 at 2:00 PM. Contact Bailey or Amalia with any questions. The Pageant is on December 15 at the 10:30 AM Service.

Lessons & Carols
Next Thursday, 7:00 PM
The Seraphim choir will be kicking off the holidays with our first annual Lessons & Carols Service next Thursday, December 5. This beautiful service will feature selections from the cantata A Celebration of Carols by Joseph M. Martin, along with favorite sing-along carols from Christmas and Advent, readings from The Saint John’s Bible, and special guest soloists. This performance is sure to awaken your spirit and ignite the hope of the holiday season! Enjoy a sneak peak of the Light Festival afterward as well!

Gather Pikes Peak
Young Adults Friendsgiving
Next Tuesday, 7:00 PM
Gather Pikes Peak, an ecumenical ministry in Colorado Springs for young adults, will be having a Friendsgiving dinner at the Peel house (First Lutheran Church) next Tuesday, December 3 at 7:00 PM. Attendees are asked to consider signing up to bring a side dish to go with the turkey that will be provided. Youth Group Christmas Party
Next Wednesday, 6:00 - 8:00 PM
Middle & High schoolers are invited to join for the Youth Group Christmas Party next Wednesday, December 4! We will have dinner catered, drink hot chocolate, listen to Christmas Music, decorate gingerbread houses, play games and ring in the holiday season together. Sign up below to let us know you're coming so that we have accurate numbers for food and activities. Don't forget to wear your favorite Christmas sweater! The funnier the better!

Christmas Light Festival
Opening Weekend
December 6 & 7
6:00 - 8:00 PM
Last year we welcomed over 5,000 people, and we collected thousands of canned goods and hundreds of toys for those in need. Make plans now to join us for another spectacular Light Festival with new displays and experiences. THIS IS OUR LARGEST OUTREACH INITIATIVE OF THE YEAR, and we need your support to ensure its success. Invite your family and neighbors and volunteer on December 6, 7, 13, 14, 20, 21 from 6:00 - 8:00 PM to help others have a joyful, blessed experience. You'll undoubtedly be blessed as well!
*There will be a Volunteer Dinner and Light Festival Walk-through next Thursday, December 5 from 5:00 - 7:00 PM. Important instructions will be given for all positions, so please plan to attend.

Advent Retreat
Next Saturday, Dec. 7

There are still spaces available for next Saturday's Advent Retreat exploring spiritual practices, including meditation, prayer, history, and music. Be surprised by the lessons offered by our story's unnamed little saints. Explore the wonder of the sacred working through ordinary people on unexpected paths. We ask participants to consider donating $20 to cover the retreat costs. Lunch will be provided.

For this intergenerational activity, we'll be learning more about our food insecure neighbors in Colorado Springs and sharing God's love beyond our walls by making sandwiches for those in need.
December 15: Christmas Pageant, 10:30 AM Service
Join us for this beautiful tradition, where our young ones will share the joy and wonder of the season through song, scripture, and heartfelt performances. It’s sure to be a highlight of the season!

40s & 50s Trivia Night
Tuesday, Dec. 10, 6:30 PM
It's a pre-holiday Game Night! Join at Red Leg Brewing for Trivia Night featuring Picture Mashups, Name That Year, Music & Movie clips, Retro TV Theme Songs, and more! There will also be a White Elephant gift exchange. Bring an amusing gift that is under $10 to be exchanged during the friendly Trivia competition. Please RSVP to save your seat at the tables.

International Partners
Interest Meeting
Wednesday, Dec. 11
Jesus said in Mt. 28:19, "Therefore go and make disciples of all nations." St. Michael's has begun the process of forming a group that will be a part of the outreach committee focused on missions and international partnerships. If you have an interest in international ministries, you are invited to the next meeting which will be held on December 11 at 2:00 PM at the church. LGBTQIA+ "Meet & Mingle"
Wednesday, Dec. 11
All are welcome to join Rev. Vicki at a "Meet & Mingle" for LGBTQIA+ and Allies at Goat Patch Brewery's private "Event Room" on Wednesday, December 11. Drop in any time between 6:30 and 8:30 PM for fellowship and conversation. Purchase your beverage at the bar and food at the nearby food trucks. We will provide some simple snacks for munching! Christmas Poinsettias & Brass Donations

Each year our staff and volunteers work hard to fill the church with beautiful poinsettias and glorious brass music (at 4:00 & 7:00 PM) for our Christmas Eve services. You are encouraged to help by making a donation in thanksgiving for or in memory of a loved one. Names will be printed in the Christmas Eve & Christmas Day Bulletins.

Blue Christmas
December 17, 7:00 PM
This gentle but powerful service supports those whose grief and hopelessness may resurface or be felt more keenly over the Christmas season. If you are feeling loss or hurt, or are estranged from the general feelings of joy and happiness during this time of year, you are invited to join us in-person or online for our Blue Christmas Service with music and Holy Eucharist.

Newcomer Ambassadors
New Ministry Opportunity!
We continue to be blessed with newcomers at St. Michael’s every Sunday! In 2025, we are starting a Newcomer Ambassador ministry dedicated to these visitors. Ambassadors can serve in one (or more!) of three ways: 1) Being available at the Welcome Table before and after services to serve as a resource for any visitors; 2) Delivering Welcome Bags of bread and other St. Michael’s information to Newcomers 3) Baking bread for the Welcome Bags. Livestream Improvements
We are aware of the ongoing issues that have affected the quality of our livestream feed, and we sincerely apologize for any inconvenience this has caused. To resolve this, we are transitioning to a new provider, and we expect the service to once again meet expectations very soon. We appreciate your continued patience and support as we make these improvements, and we look forward to sharing a much better viewing experience with you in the near future!

End of Year Donations & Stock Transfers
If you regularly donate stock, please be aware that St. Michael’s has recently changed our accounts. Please contact our Finance Manager, Jan McLaughlin, to obtain the new DTC and account numbers. Stock gifts must be initiated by December 1 to ensure the donation will be completed by the end of the year for tax purposes.
As a reminder for year-end giving, please submit all online contributions by December 27 to ensure delivery by December 31. All checks must be dated no later than December 31 and be received by the first week in January 2025. Please contact Jan at finance@stmikeschurch.com with any questions about giving.
