Letter from the Founders

Dear Trivium Academy Families,

We hope this letter finds you and your family well and enjoying the start of this new year. We are excited to share some important news regarding the future of Trivium Academy. In our commitment to provide the best educational environment for our students, we have some significant updates about our school’s facilities and growth plan.

Facilities Search History

Over the years, we have made multiple offers on our current building for lease extensions, long-term leases, and even outright purchase. Unfortunately, we learned last week that our landlord has chosen to sell the property to another buyer.

For the past five years, we have undertaken an exhaustive search in our immediate area to secure a suitable location. This process has included exploring land to build on, as well as office buildings that could potentially be converted to meet our needs. However, the search has been complicated by the requirement that schools in our area have an ICC 500-rated storm shelter in order to obtain a certificate of occupancy as well as enough queuing space on site for carpool. Additionally, we have reached out to local school districts and attempted to purchase a closed campus, but these efforts have also been unsuccessful. Despite these challenges, we remain committed to finding a solution that will support the growth and sustainability of Trivium Academy.

Expansion Plans

As we’ve previously shared, we were honored to receive the High-Quality Charter School designation from TEA last spring and are working with the Bellwether Corporation in conjunction with TEA in their Expansion/Replication Cohort. This cohort is designed to aid high achieving charter schools expand their model to new locations. As such, we have now expanded our search to include two campuses.

We are pleased to announce that we have secured the first of those two campuses. Today, we have signed a lease for 601 Accent Dr in Plano. This location currently houses Legacy Preparatory Academy, and with a little polish and shine, it will be ready for us to move in this summer after they move out.

We are still actively working on securing our second location and are diligently pursuing a couple of new leads close to our current location. While we cannot make any guarantees at this point due to the uncertainties involved, we want to keep our community informed. If one of these locations works out, we anticipate having K-12 there next year. However, if it does not, we will have K-12 at the 601 Accent Dr. campus in Plano for a year while continuing our search for permanent facilities for the K-12 campus.

Future Plans for the Accent Dr. Campus

Once we have secured the second location, the Accent Dr. campus will become a dedicated K-8 facility. This strategic plan will allow us to offer a focused and enriching educational experience tailored to our elementary and middle school students, while the new campus will cater to the full K-12 spectrum, providing continuity and excellence in education from kindergarten through high school graduation. We will be considering transportation options between the two campuses for those who would like to attend K-8 in Plano and then transition to the other campus for high school.

What This Means for Your Family

We understand that changes can bring about questions and concerns, and we want to assure you that our primary goal is to make this transition as smooth as possible for all students, families, and staff.

Here are some key points to consider:

Continuity of Education: Our teaching staff will continue to deliver the same high-quality educational experience during the transition to the new campuses.

Community: What makes Trivium special is not a building but the people within it. Our sense of community and the Trivium culture is not dependent on windows, walls, and doors, but a roof over our heads is always a good thing.

Communication: We will provide regular updates throughout this process to keep you informed as best we can without violating any confidentiality agreements.

Our Commitment

Our commitment to your child's education remains our top priority, and we are dedicated to making this transition as seamless as possible. We greatly appreciate your support and understanding as we embark on this exciting journey of replication and expansion. Thank you for being an essential part of the Trivium Academy community. We look forward to this new chapter in our school's history and to the continued success of our students.

Proud to be Knights,

Sheryl Bradley, Founder/Superintendent/Principal

Carpool Reminders
Attendance Reminders
Trivium is a public charter school and therefore must follow state mandates regarding attendance. Our official attendance time for state reporting and funding purposes is 8:40. However, many of the attendance laws apply to individual class periods as well.

*Please note- Texas law requires a district to retain students who are not in school at least 90% of the time a class meets. This includes excused and unexcused absences. Also, per state law, after a student acquires 10 unexcused absences, districts are required to file truancy.

When a student is absent, parents must send an email to attendance@triviumacademytx.com on the night before or morning of a student’s absence.

When students are absent, we must have a note from the parent or doctor concerning his/her absence(s) when he/she returns to school. If a student does not have a note when he/she returns to school, an unexcused absence will be recorded for those days. A two-day grace period will be extended to the student to bring in a note. No more than 3 parent notes per semester will be accepted.

Notes must include the following to be accepted:
  •  Student’s first and last name
  •  Grade level
  •  Days and dates missed
  •  Reason for absence(s)
  •  Parent’s signature
  •  Contact numbers
