Small Yet Mighty Winter Markets

Every other Saturday beginning January 4, 11:00am- 2:00pm

Waldorf School Gymnasium 739 Massachusetts Ave, Lexington

The Lexington Farmers' Market is holding its Small Yet Mighty Winter Market for the tenth year, bringing healthy local food, locally grown, crafted and produced back to the Waldorf School in Lexington! Starting January 4 from 11-2 pm, the biweekly winter market hosts up to ten of your favorite LFM farmers and vendors on-site, offering items for breakfast to dinner and everything in between. The LFM is a producer-only market, ensuring that what you find at our market is fresh and local, sustainably raised and carefully made.

To find out more about those attending, visit the link below, and mark the following biweekly market dates on your calendar: January 4 & 18; February 1 & 15; March 1, 8 & 15; and April 12. Support local farms and food producers by following the balloons to the back entrance of the Waldorf School for winter market goodness. We look forward to seeing you there!

MBTA Track Improvements Complete

If you have given up on riding the T due to the “slow zones,” try out the T now! The MBTA General Manager, Phil Eng, delivered on his promise to remove all slow zones by the end of the year and all work was complete on 12/20. This is the first time in 20 years that all slow zones have been removed. While there is still more to be done to enhance the MBTA, especially after decades of deferred maintenance, completing this critical track improvement program was a huge lift and riders are appreciating the zippier speeds!

Boston MPO Vision Zero Survey

The Boston Metropolitan Planning Organization (MPO) is a regional planning entity that 97 cities and towns, including Lexington, belong to. Take their Vision Zero Survey to offer input on streets or intersections you think would benefit from slower speeds, better signage, better lighting, pedestrian facilities, bike infrastructure, greater accessibility and more.

Lexington Tree Commitee

Free Trees this Spring in Lexington!

Certainly, the most beautiful way to fight climate change is to plant and cultivate trees. Now, you have a chance to do this, free of charge!

As part of Lexington’s celebration of the 250th anniversary of the Famous Shot, the Lexington Tree Committee is sponsoring the giving away of 250 young, native trees.

These trees have already been ordered and will be delivered to us right after Patriot’s Day. They will be 2-3 feet tall, with multiple branches, and ready to leaf out.

The Tree Committee will organize several distribution days, some from the DPW grounds.

Information about signing up and claiming your tree(s) to come in future newsletters and through the town’s information officer.
