"Spirit of the Community" Recap

Over 200 local leaders and residents attended Livingston County United Way’s (LCUW) recent “Spirit of the Community” Breakfast, celebrating the accomplishments and impact to the community over the past year. As part of the event, new Board of Directors members were elected, including Aaron Heckel from GM Proving Ground, Mathew Lovrenich from Brighton Meijer, community volunteer Penny Murphy, Chris Spensley from ServPro of Brighton/Howell, and Rita Vickerman from Asahi Kasei Plastics North America. Please help us to welcome them to our organization.

Livingston County United Way is pleased to share that Audrey Choate has joined our team as the new Development & Marketing Coordinator. She is stepping in to replace Jeanne Clum, our Development & Marketing Director who is “re-retiring” as of May 4, 2025.

April is an Important Month at LCUW

Coalition work is integral to engaging local partner agencies to strategize together to address a critical need in our community. LCUW partner coalitions, Livingston County Hunger Council, Great Start Livingston, and Homeless Continuum of Care, are on a three-year funding cycle enabling a greater impact to be made for Livingston County residents, while minimizing duplication of services. These coalitions encompass

30 programs that are up for renewal this month, with area leaders making recommendations for funding for the next three years. Additionally, 15 other local basic-need programs are on an annual review and investment process, which will take place later this month.

It's Not Too Late!

Our current fundraising campaign year wraps up on May 1 to enable funding and budgets to be approved for the upcoming fiscal year. It’s not too late to continue

your support to help fund much-needed programs serving our ALICE (Asset-Limited, Income-Constrained, Employed) families who are struggling to move forward.

Sponsorship Opportunities

It’s time to celebrate the 23rd Annual Day of Caring, the premiere volunteer-engagement day in Livingston County. Last year 55 projects were run, with over 750 volunteers participating. We anticipate engaging more worksites and even more volunteers this year.

We invite you to consider a sponsorship to help support purchasing special project materials for worksites where the resident lacks the financial means necessary for their specific project needs. Our goal is to expand the level of support provided last year to even more residents and organizations.

Sponsorship levels range from $500-$15,000. To learn more, visit our website at https://livingstoncountyunitedway.org/day-of-caring/, contact Amber Schroeder at aschroeder@lcunitedway.org, or call 810-494-3000.
