🎤 Want to Be Our Student Speaker? Step Up & Inspire! 🎓

Apply by April 7 to be our College of Business Convocation Student Speaker.

The selected speaker will be eligible for the Dean's Choice Award of $1,000. To be eligible to apply, you must be registered to participate in the May 21 ceremony and be eligible to graduate in May, August, or December; or have graduated in Fall 2024 or Winter 2025. Your speech should be written and be from 3 to 5 minutes (approximately 500 words).

Important Details

Applying for Graduation & Ceremonies

You must officially apply for graduation in order to be awarded your degree and receive your diploma. You may apply to graduate using the link on SOLAR. Please refer to the academic calendar for deadlines.

While you’re applying for graduation on SOLAR the next step in the process will be doing the ceremony registration form.
In this part you will indicate whether you will be attending the University-wide commencement ceremony, department-level ceremony, both or neither.
Students can participate in the spring ceremony if they have graduated in the winter or fall before the ceremony or anticipate graduating in the summer or fall after a spring ceremony. This will ensure students will not have to travel back after their graduation to participate in commencement.
Please note that walking in the commencement ceremony does not equate to receiving your degree. The degree awarding process takes place 2-3 weeks after the commencement ceremony at which time your record is reviewed for completion of all degree requirements.

Order your regalia between January 13 - March 14, 2025, and have your regalia ready to pick up at Shop Red West April 16 - May 16, 2025 (During hours of operation only. Check SBUShopRed.com for up-to-date information).
Order regalia between March 15 - April 22, 2025, and have your regalia shipped to your home.
