Women's History Month

This month, we're highlighting #5WomenArtists from the State of the Arts archives.


Heather Palecek’s solargraphs are taken with simple pinhole box cameras, often made with Altoids tins. She mounts them in trees and returns to them weeks or even months later to see what her collaboration with nature has produced.

In 2003, Alan Willoughby and a group of artists inaugurated a Noborigama Kiln on the Appel Farm Arts & Music campus in Elmer, NJ. This type of kiln was developed in Japan in the 17th century.
