COA Announces Annual Centenarian Luncheons for

St. Johns County Seniors in May 2025

Council on Aging (COA) will honor St. Johns County centenarians and nonagenarians at two Centenarian Luncheons, scheduled for Thursday, May 1, 2025 at 11:30 a.m. at River House (179 Marine St., St Augustine, FL 32084) and Thursday, May 15, 2025 at 11:30 a.m. at THE PLAYERS Community Senior Center (175 Landrum Lane, Ponte Vedra Beach, FL 32082.)

If you or a loved one will be turning age 95 or better this year, please contact Council on Aging to register to participate in the celebration nearest you. To register to attend or to become a sponsor, please contact COA’s Karen Foy at 904-209-3700 or kfoy@coasjc.org.

The RSVP deadline for the May 1^st River House event in St. Augustine is April 17. The RSVP deadline for the May 15^th Ponte Vedra Beach event is May 1.

You can make a difference! Volunteers just like you share kindness and make a difference in the lives of local seniors with COA. Here are our current volunteer needs:

Meals on Wheels (King St. Ext.) – We have a delivery opportunity that will soon be available on Tuesdays. We will need a driver to deliver meals along our King St. Ext. route. The meals are to be picked up between 9am and 10:30am. Please let us know if you have an interest in serving our seniors by providing meals.

Ponte Vedra Memory Center – We are looking for an IMEP Volunteer on Monday mornings and someone that wants to fill in when needed. This individual will help to serve snacks and/pick-up lunches at Vicars Landing and help with clean up. Please consider helping with this wonderful program designed for those experiencing early memory loss.

Meals on Wheels (Hastings)—We have a delivery opportunity that will soon be available on Mondays. Starting Monday May 5^th, we will need a driver to deliver meals along our Hastings route. The meals are to be picked up between 9am and 10:30am. Please let us know if you have an interest in serving our seniors by providing meals.

Trout Creek—Volunteers are needed Mondays on a consistent basis and Wednesdays as needed 8am-12pm. Duties include helping with Bingo, serving the lunch, restocking the bakery and the goodies, and making coffee. 

Sign Language Interpreter – We are looking for a Volunteer to help our Deaf Participants at the River House and also occasionally at the Coastal Community Center. Help is needed mostly in the mornings but could be afternoons as well. We believe that 2 – 3 times per month for 1-2 hours. If you have the time, you can put your very special skills to work and help others.

Ramp Building Crew – We are looking for Volunteers to help with building wheelchair ramps this Spring. If you have carpentry experience or would like to assist in this worthwhile endeavor you are encouraged to contact COA to find out more.

This is your opportunity to help fill your empty hours and help others at the same time.
