“UMBRELLA” ブースタークラブ会長募集

Umbrella' Booster Clubは、BHSのスポーツと活動を支援するために組織された非営利団体です｡理事会会長は、四半期ごとの会合を主導し、運営上の指導と監督を行う責任があります｡この重要な役割は、本校の学生を支援するために、23のグループ（リストは下記参照）の募金活動を支援することです｡このポジションにかかる時間は月に4時間以内（通常はかなり少ない）であり、非営利組織の地位を維持するために不可欠です｡会議は夕方からで、その他の時間は自由自在なので、働く親にとって理想的なボランティア方法です。トレーニングとサポートも提供されます｡どのような支援が可能であるか、またはご自身や他人を推薦するかについては、umbrellabooster405@gmail.com までメールでお問い合わせください。

SOUP FOR SIMPSON

BELLEVUE, WA – Bellevue High Schoolの学生主導の資金調達クラブ、Soup for Simpson」Clubは、Seattleでホームレス状態にある若者を支援する非営利団体、New Horizonsを支援するために2万ドルを集めるという野心的な目標を掲げて、結成20周年を迎えました。

Soup for Simpsonは、脳腫瘍と診断された後、無私の精神と寛大さを体現し続けたBHSの元生徒、Hunter Simpsonを記念して設立されました｡大学在学中、Hunterはミールプランの食費を節約するためにスープばかり食べていました｡彼自身もまたMake-A-Wish Foundationの支援を受けていましたが、彼はその願いを自分のために使うのではなく、New Horizons’ shelter spaceに家具を提供することを選びました｡残念なことに、彼は19歳の若さでこの世を去りましたが、毎年恒例のこのイベントを通じて、彼の寄付の精神は生き続けています。

BHSの長年の教師であるKathy Adams先生が始めた「Soup for Simpson」は、学校の大切な伝統行事となっており、毎年春になると、生徒たちは昼食代を寄付してNew Horizonsを支援し、単純な寄付行為が、ライブ音楽、無料のスープ、クッキー、そして他者を助けるという共通のコミットメントを備えました。地域全体の祝祭へと変わります。

当クラブは、20年にわたる影響力を称えるため、ソーシャルメディアキャンペーンや地元コミュニティへの働きかけを通じて、この言葉を広める努力を強化しています｡目標額の20,000ドルを達成するためには、皆さんの協力が必要です！

イベントは4月2日（水)の午後12時45分よりBellevue High School Commonsにて行われます。

WOLVERINE ROBOTICS

Over the weekends of March 1st and March 8th, Wolverine Robotics competed at the Sammamish and Bonnie Lake District FIRST Robotics Competition (FRC) Events. With the robot they designed, built, and programmed in two months, they earned the Finalist Award and the Rising All-Start Award. These break a 17-year medals drought and 16-year team awards drought. Although the team was unable to earn enough ranking points to move onto the District Championships competition, the students were greatly successful in other means:

Raised over $30,000 in team funds and maintained a balanced budget (Matthew Chin)
Designed, built, and programmed a custom competitive robot in 2 months (Triton Yang, Andrew Nguyen, Matthew Chin, Nathan Waxman-Jeng, Dylan Laureano, Mimansh Shah)
Finalists at the Sammamish District Event (Drive team of Gaya Krishnan, Mimansh Shah, Matthew Chin)
Rising All-Star Award at the Bonnie Lake District Event (presenters of Adrina Banwait, Lucia Liao, Symphony Tafreshi)
Active team members increased by 100% (Andrew Nguyen)
STEAMnasium Grand Opening: BSD’s FIRST Robotics Full-Sized Practice Field. Bringing together over 300 school and district administrators, BSD School Board; Bellevue Major, Deputy Mayor, and City Council; County, State, and Federal Congressional Representatives (Andrew Nguyen)

Here's this week's library newsletter. Next week will be the first week in a while that there are no scheduled closures so come in and browse the Women's History Month display and new arrivals!

LIBRARY NEWS:

Voting is now open for the Young Reader's Choice Awards! If you've read even just one of the nominees, you can choose your favorite. Scroll down to select Washington from the list of states and submit your vote on the form that pops up. Votes must be submitted before April 15^th and results will be announced on April 30^th. Here's a Destiny Discover collection of all of the titles nominated for the YRCA this year. The PNLA has also announced the nominees for 2026 so you can get excited / ahead on your favorites!
Voting is also underway for the Evergreen Teen Book Award Nominees. If you've read two or more of these books (note there are some titles that are nominated for both awards), you can fill out a ballot in each or either category — for favorite Young Adult titles and Middle Grade titles. Vote before March 31st and winners will be announced later in April.
Next Friday, March 28^th is the deadline to submit a zine for the Washington State Zine Contest. Come show me if you've made one! I'd love to collect zines in the library for other students to enjoy!
Thanks to generous grants from the Bellevue Schools Foundation and the BHS PTSA, I have received new books in Arabic, Chinese, Hindi, Korean, Portuguese, and Turkish to expand our library's World Language collection. They're not quite on the shelf yet as I'm still cataloging and processing them, but I'd love to show you what I have if you're interested so stop by and see what's new! Also, if you are a reader or student of any of these languages and you would like to personally thank the donors for these the extra funding making these acquisitions possible, I'd love to include your notes with my official project report.

野球、ラクロス、ソフトボール、棒高跳び、水球に参加するにはImPACTテストが必要です。

2025年秋季の選手の方々（チア、ダイバーズ、フットボール、サッカー、バレーボール、水球）は、早めにImPACTテストを受けることを推奨します。

テスト日は 3月26日（水）、4月23日（水）、4月30日（水)、5月21日（水）、5月28日（水)、6月4日（水）です。

ImPACTテストは、水曜日の午後2時に、Lower Aux (North) Gymのclassroom 0302号室で行われます。

テストを行うのに登録は不要です。但し、BSDで配布されたノートパソコンをフル充電して持って来てください。
