The CIDNA Neighborhood Needs You!

Elections for the CIDNA Board are coming up at our Annual Meeting on May 14. The Board is made of up neighbors who volunteer their time, talent and expertise to make the CIDNA a welcoming community for all. CIDNA puts on social events throughout the year, engages with city leaders on issues that affect our neighborhood and advocates on behalf of the neighborhood.

If you are thinking about joining, or wonder what the board member responsibilities are, please email info@cidna.org.

May Day Basket Making - April 30

For many years, CIDNA has created May Day Baskets for Jones-Harrison residents. This effort has been led by Amanda Vallone as a way to recognize those who reside at JH. The baskets are hung on the door knobs of each of the residents to bring cheer to them on May Day.

Bring your children or yourselves to pitch in with this event. All ages are welcome. Feel free to drop in and stay for as long as you are able.

AROUND AND ABOUT

Sewage Spill at Cedar Lakep

The Metropolitan Council, operator of the regional wastewater collection and treatment system, responded Friday morning, March 28, to a wastewater spill in Minneapolis, at the intersection of 28th Street W. and Dean Court. Crews were able to stop the spill flow. Wastewater reached the west side of Cedar Lake South Beach through the storm water system. The spill was caused by the theft of infrastructure at the spill site.

Crews completed cleanup and repair efforts Friday, March 28. Sewer service was not interrupted. Water quality crews collected samples at five testing sites within Cedar Lake on Friday, March 28, and Saturday, March 29, to measure for potential health and environmental concerns. Met Council scientists saw significant reductions in bacteria from Friday into Saturday. Bacteria results remain elevated just west of Cedar Lake South Beach. Water Quality crews will return on Monday, March 31, for another round of sampling.
