The Ski Area is now closed for the season
Thank you to Brian Clark (Director of Lifestyles), Shalan Cronen, the Recreation Staff, Nic Hutta (Director of Operations), Evan Scott (Ski Area Lead), & the Ski Area Staff for a great ski season. Much of the winter was cold enough for snowmaking, plus a scattering of mother nature-made snow, which allowed for terrific ski conditions. Our awesome Ski Area Staff did an amazing job keeping the trails groomed, and all open throughout the season. The excellent Recreation Staff kept the Ski Shop running smoothly, selling more season passes, and rentals than last year, and surpassing last year’s income.

March is National Nutrition Month®
Eating healthy is essential for a child’s growth, immune system, bones and teeth. A diet with vital nutrients can improve focus, mood, and mental health. Most of your child’s plate should have colorful fruits and vegetables.
Some tips on how to help your child eat healthier:
- Have your child help with meal planning.
- Take your child to the grocery store and allow them to help in picking out produce.
- Cook meals together.
- Snacking also plays a role in a kid’s nutritional needs. A variety of foods from the food groups will give them needed energy.
More information on creating healthy mealtime habits can be found here: https://wavecrestcafe.com/10-tips-for-families-building-healthy-mealtime-habits/.

Free Reflective Armbands
By: David Loncki, Director of Public Safety
To improve visibility on Saw Creek’s roads, the Public Safety Department is offering free reflective armbands to all residents, adults, and children.
These armbands are designed to make individuals more easily seen by drivers, especially during dawn, dusk, and nighttime hours. Whether you’re walking to a bus stop, walking the dog, jogging, or simply strolling through the neighborhood, these reflective bands can significantly increase your visibility and help prevent accidents.
We want to ensure the safety of our residents, and these reflective armbands are a simple yet effective way to achieve that, we encourage everyone to take advantage of this opportunity to stay safe while navigating our roads.
Residents are invited to pick up their free reflective armbands at the Public Safety Office. To ensure availability for all, we kindly request that you limit your request to one armband per household resident.
In addition to reflective armbands, the Saw Creek Public Safety Department also reminds residents of the availability of free gun safety locks. Safe storage of firearms is crucial for preventing accidents and ensuring the well-being of our community. If you own a firearm, please consider utilizing a safety lock to secure it properly.
By offering these reflective armbands and gun safety locks, the Saw Creek Public Safety Department is demonstrating its commitment to the safety and well-being of its residents. Take advantage of these free resources to enhance your safety and contribute to a safer community for all.

Community Safety Update from Saw Creek Public Safety
Hello Saw Creek Residents,
Last week, a photo on social media showed two juveniles on top of the canopy at the Lancaster Bus Stop. This was a dangerous and risky decision, and I want to take a moment to address it.
While our Public Safety team works hard to keep an eye on the community, we can’t be everywhere at once. That’s why we rely on your help—if you see something concerning, please call Dispatch immediately (570-588-5151) so we can respond quickly and appropriately.
Thankfully, this situation had a positive outcome. The next day, the juveniles realized their mistake and personally apologized to Officer Carpico while he was patrolling the area. We appreciate their willingness to take responsibility, and we hope it serves as a learning experience.
On another note, we’ve heard concerns about speeding in the community. If there’s a specific area you believe needs extra attention, let us know! We’re happy to increase radar enforcement in problem areas, as we’ve successfully done in the past.
If you have any concerns or areas you’d like us to focus on, please reach out to me, Director Loncki, at david@sawcreek.org. By working together, we can continue making Saw Creek a safer place for everyone.
Stay safe,
Director Loncki

A Friendly Reminder About Liquid Fuel Storage Containers
By: Adam Hackett, Code & Rental Enforcement Officer
As we work together to keep our neighborhood looking its best, we wanted to take a moment to share a friendly reminder about an important guideline: liquid fuel storage containers; such as propane tanks, heating oil, or any other fuel-related storage-need to be screened so they’re not visible from roadways. This small step helps maintain the welcoming and tidy appearance we all love about our community, and it’s an easy way to keep things looking polished and cohesive.
Why does this matter?
When they’re out in the open, they can catch the eye in a way that distracts from the mountainous woodland charm of our community. By screening them, we’re not just following HOA rules; we’re also showing a little love to our shared environment. Think of it as a team effort to keep our neighborhood looking like the friendly, inviting place we all call home!
How to make it work
Screening your fuel containers doesn’t have to be a big project-there are tons of simple and creative ways to get it done. Here are a few ideas to spark your inspiration:
- Fencing or Lattice Panels. A small section of fencing or decorative lattice can work wonders. Bonus points if it matches your home’s style!
- Plants or Shrubs. A row of evergreen bushes or tall grasses can naturally hide containers while adding some greenery to your yard.
Whatever you choose, just make sure it fully conceals the containers from the road while keeping them safely accessible for your use. Safety first, of course-proper ventilation and clearance are key when dealing with fuel storage, so always follow manufacturer guidelines. If you’re unsure about what qualifies as “screened” or need a little advice on how to tackle this, don’t hesitate to reach out to the Compliance Officer at compliance@sawcreek.org for guidance.

Saw Creek’s 25th Anniversary Historical Note
By Ray Beltz, Saw Creek Resident
Many of us travel on Decker Road each day. I guess you would say that Decker helps us get to our homes and amenities.
Did you know that Decker’s Ferry helped settlers cross the Delaware River to their new homes in Pennsylvania? The Decker’s Ferry was located at the Walpack Bend on the Delaware River. It began service in 1744, carrying passengers and goods across the river to Smithfield Township.
Colonel Philip Van Cortland’s army used Decker’s Ferry to cross into PA in 1779 to join up with Major General John Sullivan to engage the British.
The Ferry ran until 1898, bringing settlers to present-day Stroudsburg.
| The Stroudsburg St. Patrick’s Day Parade is Sunday, March 23rd, starting at 1:15 pm. The parade will begin at Stroudsburg High School and end at Crystal Street in East Stroudsburg. |
Random Act of Kindness
Do a simple gesture or something nice for someone else.
This week, try complimenting someone. A sincere compliment can make people feel good about themselves, brighten their day, and promote positivity, during these negative times.
