Recruitment, Hiring, and Retention Ad Hoc Report and Recommendations

The Ad Hoc Committee on Recruitment, Hiring and Retention met with Sheriff Engram and staff in January after the CAC adopted the ad hoc committee’s recommendations: (1) Limit use of military and SWAT images in recruitment, and (2) Take part in 30x30 program (recommending law enforcement agencies aim for 30% women recruits by 2030).

The Sheriff, while not agreeing to adopt the recommendations, noted that more recent recruiting material used fewer military and SWAT images than earlier recruiting efforts. Current recruiting materials can be seen here.

Sheriff Engram explained he did not sign pledges written by others, as joining the 30x30 Initiative requires. He does, however, use 30x30 program guidelines and recommendations in his hiring activities. Learn more about the 30x30 Initiative here.
