Feel the fresh air. Listen to the birds. Enjoy the bright smell of citrus fruit or the more delicate scent of their blossoms. Chat with friendly people while picking, sorting, carrying, and putting healthy effort into sharing food with our wider community.
A harvest morning is a great way to wake up the senses and open your heart. Come on out and savor the day!
Here are our newly scheduled home harvests:
- Saturday March 8 - Palo Alto/Menlo Park, 10 more volunteers needed
- Tuesday March 11 - San Jose, 6 more volunteers needed
- Tuesday March 18 - San Jose, 7 more volunteers needed
And as the rainy season winds down, orchard harvest season approaches! We'll be returning to the "Giant Orange Orchard" in North San Jose, with a month or more of large, fun harvests to be announced in the next few newsletters.
Want to help tell the Village Harvest story? We're looking for volunteers to
contribute your creativity through writing, photography, or conversations with the people that make our community service joyful and possible. Read on for more details about how you can help.
And in case you've ever wondered who is sending you all these emails, our small staff got together this past weekend and took a rare
group photo.
We have welcomed many new volunteers so far this year and hope to meet more at every harvest. Whether you're a long-time harvest friend or have found us just recently, we're so glad you're here. See you again soon!

Contribute Your Creativity!

Village Harvest brings so many interesting and inspiring people and organizations together, and we’d love to share their stories with all our volunteers. But our small staff is very busy organizing harvests and can’t do this alone.
Can you volunteer your talents or interest-to-learn in writing, photography, or video production to create brief stories, articles, or photo galleries to appear in the Village Harvest newsletter or website? Thousands can enjoy your work!
Some examples of creative contributions include:
- Profiles of volunteers, home tree owners, or orchard owners
- Stories about our food agency partners
- Profiles of service groups we work with (e.g. National Charity League)
- Harvest and event photo stories
- Garden and fruit tree care info
- “How to” harvest guides for many kinds of fruit trees
- Using fruit / seasonal recipes / jam making
Any other ideas for what you’d like to see in the newsletter? Please
contact Tracy with your questions, suggestions, and offers to help.
Staff Antics
The Village Harvest staff work remotely and it’s rare that all 4 of us are physically in the same place. But last Sunday we got together to make a short video (that's another story), and this time we remembered to take a picture!
