Greetings From Mr. Estes... |
Dear SASEAS Families,
I hope everyone enjoyed the extra time off this past weekend and made time to do something special with family and friends. I had recovered enough by this past Sunday to attend three basketball end of season tournament championship games. Congratulations to our 4th and 8th grade teams for your second place finishes and to our 6th grade team for your championship win. All three games were fun to watch; it was great seeing so many of our teams competing in the tournament finals.
Following mass today our school community and guests, along with Fr Chris, recognized our character award recipients for January. The character trait being recognized was Patience and the Saint for January was our very own Saint Elizabeth Ann Seton. Congratulations to Vincent Gardner, Calvin Knafla, Emma Rogan, Gwen Vezina, JP Caito, Annie Claus, JT Reineck, Desmond Flynn, Jaiden Garrett, and Thomas Reed. As I mentioned during the ceremony, the examples of patience that teachers witnessed and shared with families in their emails demonstrate behaviour that we should all strive to emulate.
Believe it or not, tomorrow is the last day of our second trimester; report cards will be coming home next Friday. As Always, this is a great opportunity to celebrate your student’s successes and recommend any necessary adjustments that will be helpful going into our final trimester.
Please see the reminders section for additional information and details about upcoming events.
Make it a great week!

Healthy Bodies are the theme in our preschool this week. Mrs. Christina’s classes are learning about healthy foods and healthy teeth. They are sorting foods into everyday foods that help your body grow, and those that are sometimes foods, (which may weaken your teeth if you don’t brush them). They are also hearing about Jesus feeding the 5000 in religion.
Mrs. Sheila’s class is learning about healthy teeth. They are making toothbrushes in art, counting teeth, and filling out a “T is for Tooth” worksheet.
Our 4-year-old classes have a healthy foods and healthy body theme. They are talking about bones and making a skeleton out of Q-tips in art. They are sorting foods and listing healthy habits like washing hands and exercising as they learn about basic body parts and their functions. In religion they are learning about Jesus feeding many people with loaves and fishes.
Our 5-year-old class is focused on several things this week. They are learning about healthy teeth, money, and celebrating their hundredth day of school. They are learning how to keep their teeth healthy. They will have an introduction to the dollar sign and the cent sign. In math they will count pennies and dimes, flip a coin and record heads or tails on a graph, and make patterns with various coins. On Friday they will celebrate their hundreth day of school with lots of counting to 100 activities. The school year is flying by!
February is Dental Health month and we look forward every year to a visit from Dr. Gillespie, a dentist from Milford Dental Excellence, and a father of children in our school. He will be visiting the preschool classrooms later this month teaching our preschoolers about dental health.
Have a great week!
