BASIS Protects Your Budget

In October of this year, Oracle JDK 17 reached the end of its free update cycle, and the license agreement changed. BASIS supports BBj on a version of Java 17 or Java 21, giving BASIS customers the choice of running on open-source Java 17 or 21 LTS versions or the limited-time free Oracle Java 21 LTS. Desktop App Splash Image

The BBj splash and load images are now the same, meaning you can add a personal touch when your desktop app starts up. This improvement allows you to better align the startup experience with your brand identity.

Eclipse Installation

BASIS recommends that BDT users moving to Eclipse 2024-09 start with a new installation and not upgrade existing Eclipse 2024-03 installations. Users may encounter an error when using Eclipse 2024-03’s built-in search facility. We advise reading the Eclipse Search Issue Knowledge Base article for more details.

Process Termination Behavior

Previously, when processes were terminated in Enterprise Manager, they would dump threads to the debug log. If multiple processes were terminated at once, this could slow down production systems significantly. Now, in BBj 24.20, processes terminated within Enterprise Manager will no longer dump threads to the debug log by default. If you prefer the old behavior, you can check [Dump Threads On Terminate Process] in BBjServices > Settings.
