Sakai and integrated tools offer a variety of options for students to engage with you as the instructor, their classmates, and invited guests. Join this session for a comprehensive overview of asynchronous discussion tools available at Loyola. You will be introduced to common and lesser known tools like Piazza, understand how these tools work in Sakai, and provided with tips for successful course adoption.

Seamless Success: Assignments Made Easy with Integrated Tools

Did you know there are other technologies available to you beyond Sakai's native Assignments tool? Join this session for a tour of the assignment features found within integrated tools such as Panopto, VoiceThread, and Top Hat. You will learn about an assortment of student activities from icebreakers to audio/video recordings, and how to best implement these into your course.

Creating Value and Memorable Learning Asynchronously: Dialogic Pedagogy for Dialogue Tools 


A perpetual challenge we encounter with online teaching and learning occurs in the absence of live engagement: how do we facilitate and engage meaningful exchanges within the classroom when there are no classes or classroom? Daisaku Ikeda’s Soka pedagogy might provide those of us designing engagement activities for our asynchronous learners with a compass aimed at creating value that aligns with our Jesuit mission while also using our dialogic learning technologies. This flexible, on-demand professional development opportunity focuses on Sakai’s Communication Tools such as Announcements, Calendar, Email, Chat, Messages, Discussions, and Conversations. It provides guided instruction and best practices to effectively facilitate communication in online and technology-enhanced courses. Upon completion, you’ll earn a digital badge to showcase your newly acquired skills! Loyola issues digital badges through Credly. This training is expected to be released on Monday, March 17th.
