Sunday of Orthodoxy
The Holy 40 Martyrs of Sebastia

Sunday of Orthodoxy
For more than one hundred years the Church of Christ was troubled by the persecution of the Iconoclasts of evil belief, beginning in the reign of Leo the Isaurian (717-741) and ending in the reign of Theophilus (829-842). After Theophilus's death, his widow the Empress Theodora (celebrated Feb. 11), together with the Patriarch Methodius (June 14), established Orthodoxy anew. This ever-memorable Queen venerated the icon of the Mother of God in the presence of the Patriarch Methodius and the other confessors and righteous men, and openly cried out these holy words: "If anyone does not offer relative worship to the holy icons, not adoring them as though they were gods, but venerating them out of love as images of the archetype, let him be anathema." Then with common prayer and fasting during the whole first week of the Forty-day Fast, she asked God's forgiveness for her husband. After this, on the first Sunday of the Fast, she and her son, Michael the Emperor, made a procession with all the clergy and people and restored the holy icons, and again adorned the Church of Christ with them. This is the holy deed that all we the Orthodox commemorate today, and we call this radiant and venerable day the Sunday of Orthodoxy, that is, the triumph of true doctrine over heresy.

On the Sabbath we went outside the city gate to the river, where we expected to find a place of prayer. We sat down and began to speak to the women who had gathered there. One of those listening was a woman from the city of Thyatira named Lydia, a dealer in purple cloth. She was a worshiper of God. The Lord opened her heart to respond to Paul’s message. When she and the members of her household were baptized, she invited us to her home. “If you consider me a believer in the Lord,” she said, “come and stay at my house.” And she persuaded us (Acts - 16:13-15) | | |
In addition to their many other Projects, the All Saints Parish Council applied for and received a grant from the Hellenic Foundation to install a Hearing Loop System in our Church.
Hearing Loop is a system to transmit audio from our Church Microphones directly to the Hearing Aids of our hearing impaired parishioners. This way they can hear clearly and without background noise. Our initial assessment for the installation will be this Monday! We are excited to be able to offer this opportunity to the faithful of All Saints through the generosity and hard work of the Hellenic Foundation.

Our 2025 Parish Council has set a goal of improving and beautifying our Parish Hall. We have four main goals:
UPDATE: Thank you to our dedicated parishioners, who within two weeks of the call have donated well over $28,000 towards the beautification of our hall!
1) Replacing the Ceiling tiles for a fresh look.
2) Replacing window treatments to more modern and practical application.
3) Refreshing the "bar" area.
4) Re-Painting
While we are still in the process of examining our options and securing bids for these various projects, we anticipate new window treatments to cost approx. $5,000 and new ceiling tiles to cost approx. $10,000.
We hope that everyone is enjoying the new tables, offered by our Three Hierarchs Philoptochos that have really opened up the space and created what we hope is a more welcoming and comfortable environment.
Our Parish Council is very ambitious, and working hard to keep up and beautify our facility. Anyone interested in contributing to these worthwhile projects is encouraged to make a donation on Givelify towards "Capitol Improvements." Or send a check to the Church office with Hall Improvements in the memo line.
Thank you and God bless!
