LIFE’S INTERRUPTIONS
Often when we are focused on tasks, or anything meaningful, an interruption may occur. Many times, people become irritated when this happens, because it upset “their” plans.
It was a day like that when Jesus was ministering to a crowd. Some of the parents brought their children to him so he could touch them. They wanted their children to receive a blessing.
It irritated the disciples because that was not the “usual” when Jesus ministered. They probably thought it was not the way things should be done. Adults should come first, and the children were getting in the way.
In fact, in Mark 10:13b how irritated his disciples were, because it says, “and his disciples rebuked those that brought them.”
The disciples displeased Jesus. In verses 14-16 it reads, “But when Jesus saw it, he was much displeased, and said unto them, Suffer the little children to come unto me, and forbid them not: for of such is the kingdom of God. Verily I say unto you, whosoever shall not receive the kingdom of God as a little child, he shall not enter therein. And he took them up in his arms, put his hands upon them, and blessed them.”
Jesus wanted to show his disciples that they needed to be like those children, full of “childlike” faith, eager to get to the Lord. The interruption was not one they would ever forget.
When an interruption comes, ask the Lord what He is trying to show you through it. Do not let your irritation rob you of a blessing.
