We chose to send this newsletter following the election to have the ability to include the results. October was jammed packed with great engagement. The Fall Conference was an excellent opportunity for our attendees to engage in meetings, network and take in the exciting atmosphere of New Orleans.
Completed Emerging Leaders Program--we had 18 -participants which developed lifelong friendships and learned about critical leadership skills.
The board approved hiring a PR Firm to help with recruitment of potential new member firms and share all the benefits state and national of ACEC. We leveraged a $7,000 grant for ACEC National for our proposal. Over the next 6 months we will have a stronger social media presence and updated materials about the benefits of ACEC.
Elections:
All of Oklahoma's incumbent members of Congress on the ballot won reelection.
The State Senate will remain 40R-8D with more conservative members winning after defeating 4 incumbent republicans in the primary/run-off.
The State House will remain 81R-20D
Oklahoma legislative races see little change for makeup of Senate, House
The big news was an unprecedented campaign of super PAC's either supporting or opposing the retention of 3 State Supreme Court Justices. Governor Stitt's super PAC ran ads to NOT retain the justices. 2 were narrowly retained and 1 was not retained. Election results for controversial Oklahoma Supreme Court seats
Gurich Yes: 50.25%
Kauger Yes: 49.74%---not retained will be appointed by Gov Stitt
Edmondson: Yes: 51%
