Scheduled Water Shutdown for Areas off S. Nardo

The Santa Fe Irrigation District (SFID) has scheduled a water shutdown for Wednesday, January 29th, that will impact several streets off South Nardo Avenue in Solana Beach. The shutdown will begin at 8:00 AM and could last up to 12 hours. Affected streets include Sonrisa Street, Fresca Street, Fresca Court, and Nardito Lane. The map outlines the homes that will be affected by the shutdown, which is also available on our website for reference. Volunteers Needed for the 2025 Point in Time Count! 

Each January, over 1,700 volunteers across San Diego County come together for the #WeAllCount Point-in-Time Homelessness Census, a one-night effort to better understand and address homelessness in our community. Organized by the Regional Task Force on Homelessness, this initiative gathers vital data to shape resources and services that help those in need. This year’s count takes place on Thursday, January 30th, from 4:00 AM to 8:00 AM, with volunteers still needed in several locations, including Fallbrook, Encinitas (including the Solana Beach area), and Pacific Beach. Sign up today to help build a stronger, more compassionate community.

Last Week to Renew Your Business Certificate

Time is running out to renew your Business Certificate! The 2025 renewal deadline is January 31st. All 2024 business certificates expired on December 31, 2024. Certificates not renewed by the deadline will be closed, requiring a new business application to continue operations. Please note that online renewal and payment options are not available yet. All applications must be submitted in person at the Finance Counter, dropped in the dropbox outside City Hall, or mailed with a postmark dated no later than January 31st. Don’t wait till the last minute and renew today!

Learn About Proposed Increases to Water Rates

Santa Fe Irrigation District (SFID) has released its proposed water rates for the next three years. Customers were sent a notice in December regarding the proposed increase and schedule for the public hearing. SFID will hold a community meeting on Thursday, January 30th, at 10:00 AM at La Colonia Community Center to provide more information and answer questions. The public hearing will be held on Wednesday, February 12th at 8:30 AM at its offices in Rancho Santa Fe, where the Board of Directors will vote on a decision for implementation or further consideration.

Rail Service Closure This Weekend

This weekend, January 25th through January 26th, all coastal rail line services, including COASTER, Amtrak, and Metrolink, will be suspended between Oceanside Transit Center and Santa Fe Depot. This kind of routine closure, called an “Absolute Work Window,” occurs several times a year to allow crews to maintain and improve the tracks. Service will resume Monday morning.

How to Submit Public Comments


Written Comments:

To provide written input on an agenda item, email the City Clerk at clerkoffice@cosb.org.

  • Use the meeting date in the subject line and include the agenda item number.
  • Written comments must be submitted at least two hours before the meeting.
  • Please note written comments will not be read aloud during the meeting but will be shared with the Council and added to the public record.


Verbal Comments:

To speak during the meeting, submit a speaker slip to the City Clerk before the meeting starts or before the relevant agenda item is announced.

  • Each speaker is allotted 3 minutes per topic.
  • Individuals can receive up to 6 minutes if time is donated by another attendee, or up to 10 minutes for group discussions. For public hearings, time donated by two attendees allows up to 15 minutes for a speaker.
