🦃 Thanksgiving Safety Tips for Your Furry Family Members! 🦃
Thanksgiving is all about family, and that includes our four-legged loved ones! To keep tails wagging and tummies happy, here are a few pet-safe tips for the holiday:
- No Turkey Bones or Skin – Turkey bones can splinter, and the skin can be too rich, so stick to plain turkey meat if you want to share.
- Watch Those Sweets – Chocolate, xylitol (in sugar-free treats), and raisins are big no-nos for pets.
- Mind the Sides – Avoid giving pets onions, garlic, grapes, and rich foods like gravy or buttery mashed potatoes. Simple veggies, like plain carrots or green beans, make better treats!
- Guard the Trash – A tasty smell can be irresistible! Keep a tight lid on garbage cans to prevent any “trash feast” disasters.
- Create a Quiet Space – If things get a little loud, set up a cozy spot for your pet to relax away from the bustle.

Leftover Turkey Dinner Dog Treats 🦃🦃🦃
| |
Unsure what to do with your Thanksgiving leftovers?
We have the answer! Homemade dog treats just in time for Thanksgiving!
| |
Yields 3 dozen treats, Total time: 30 minutes
Ingredients
- 2 cups chopped turkey and veggies (avoid alliums)
- 1 egg
- Chicken or turkey stock, gravy or water
- 2-3 cups whole wheat, barley or oat flour
Directions
- Preheat the oven to 350F.
- Place your leftover turkey and veggies in the bowl of a food processor and add the egg and enough gravy and/or stock to process it into a mixture with the texture of thick, chunky sauce.
- Pour the mixture into a bowl and add enough flour to make a workable dough. Roll it into balls and press down with the tines of a fork on a cookie sheet, or roll or pat out on a floured surface and cut into biscuit shapes. Place on a parchment-lined sheet and bake for 20 minutes, or until golden. To get them nice and hard, turn the oven off but leave them inside as the oven cools—when they're completely dried out, they'll last longer. If they still have some moisture to them, keep them in a sealed container in the fridge.
- Makes about 3 dozen treats, depending on their size.

Orphan of the Month: Satin
Sabine and I were found as lost strays by the nice shelter people. Our names are not our own, we have nothing except what other people have given us.
My new doctor says I have heartworms and that scares me because I need to pay the doctor money and you surely have guessed that I (or other dogs) do not have any. I did my best taking care of Sabine because at about 4 years old, I am a grown up.

Check Your Dog
Once a Month on the 14th!
| |
|
It is important that you start your fight against canine cancer and any other health issue from the day you bring your dog home.
Facts about Cancer in Dogs
Did you know that 1 in 3 dogs will be diagnosed with cancer? 50% of those dogs will die from cancer. In humans, there are 1.5 million new cases of cancer each year, but in dogs, there are 6 million new cases of cancer diagnosed each year. Dog cancer prevention is key to a long healthy life with your dog.
| |
Checking your dog once a month for lumps and bumps or any abnormal behavior is key in the prevention of any health issue with your dog.
We recommend doing it on the 14th of every month. Monthly checks mean extra pets and love for your dogs while bringing peace of mind to you! If you are starting with a young dog, this time will also prepare them for their future vet wellness visits.
| |
Now how exactly do you do this?
Start at their nose and work all the way to their tail. Make sure you are in a familiar, low-key environment where you and your pet can do this without distraction. In other words, not during dinner time or when you expect the mailman to be buzzing by the house.
