As Thanksgiving approaches, we’re reminded of the power of gratitude in our lives. At Vinje, we believe that being thankful isn’t just a one-time event or a seasonal feeling; it’s a way of life. A thankful heart shapes who we are and how we live every day.
Thankful people are enduring. They don’t turn away when things get tough; they keep going, knowing that God walks with them. In a world that often demands more, faster, and better, a gratitude gives us resilience. It reminds us of the many blessings we’ve already received and helps us endure even through some of the worst times of our lives.
Thankful people are content. They aren’t driven by “what’s next?” or “what’s more?” They live with the comfort that God provides enough. While the world around us pushes us to seek more—more possessions, more success, more approval—thankful people find joy in what they already have. They know their worth doesn’t come from what they have or what they achieve but from being a beloved child of God.
Thankful people are giving. Because they see their lives as filled with blessings, they’re inspired to share what they have with others. Whether it’s time, talents, or money, thankful people give generously because they know the joy that comes from making a difference. And when all our gifts are shared together, God can do amazing things through us.
Thankful people are also hopeful. They look to the future with trust that God has good things in store. They find hope in the promises of Scripture and the love of Christ, not in the uncertainties of the world. With hope, they greet each day with open hands and an open heart, ready for whatever God has in store.
And finally, thankful people are present in the moment. They aren’t rushing to the next thing or living in the past. They take time to be fully where they are—to notice God’s work here and now, to appreciate the people around them, and to see and give thanks for life’s little blessings every day.
This November, let’s all try to remind each other what Thanksgiving is all about: giving thanks. Because when we are thankful people, we are enduring, content, giving, hopeful, and fully present. As we give thanks for what we have, let’s all live out these qualities, shining a light of God’s love and peace in a world that so deeply needs it.
