Dear Gloucester Business Community,
We would like to thank all those who attended a discussion last week on how to improve workforce development here in Gloucester County. While we will need additional participation to complete the work stated last spring, below is a list of topics from last week's meeting.
- GCPS develops a digital workforce development board (web portal) to accommodate the varying interests of businesses and students. The website should include the following components:
- Job postings
- Internships
- Mentorships
- Fellowships
- Job Shadowing
- Guest Speakers
- Site Visits
- Make the public aware of the GHS workforce development programs such as automotive technology, culinary arts, carpentry 1-3, certified nursing assistant, FFA, etc.
- Create and post short videos in each of the career pathways that highlight Gloucester graduates who work at a local business.
- Compare the GHS graduating class of 2024 with the state graduating class 2024. See the data above.
- Develop additional strategies for involving Gloucester businesses in investing time and energy to improve workforce development in our community.
We look forward to working together to develop the workforce in our community!

Workforce development happens in Gloucester when schools and local businesses commit to work together!
On Friday, January 17, we celebrated a truly special milestone with a Pinning Ceremony for 18 Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) students.
Including the May 2024 pinning ceremony, in less than a year, Gloucester High School has supported 38 students in earning their CNA licenses—an incredible achievement! For parents, there’s nothing more rewarding than seeing your child prepare to earn a living in a career that brings them happiness and purpose.
A heartfelt thank you to Ms. Suzanne Nester and Lisa Jones for their unwavering mentorship, teaching, and commitment to holding students to the highest standards. Your guidance has been vital to this program’s success.
We also want to express our deep gratitude to Riverside and The Gloucester House for hosting clinical experiences. These partnerships have given students the hands-on training they need to excel in their careers.
Learn in Gloucester, Work in Gloucester!
This is what community collaboration and success look like.
