A huge shout out to our committee: Bill Potter ‘97, Co-Chair; Joe Etcheverry ‘94, Co-Chair; Molly Antongiovanni ‘12; Lexi Clerou ‘06; Jeff Etcheverry ‘02; Santos Gutierrez, Dan Hoekstra; Jared Lane ‘96; Tom McCarthy; Philip McDermott ‘04; Jenny Asaro; and Lou Ann Durrett. They worked tirelessly to ensure we hit our revenue goal and that our guests had a great night. Thank you to our VIP Sponsors for their generosity. We could not hit our revenue goal without them. We are especially grateful to our alumni who donated from their businesses to make the night a success - JoRonco (Tobias Family), Casa Munoz (Munoz Family), Wool Growers (Camou Family), Grimmway (Grimm Family), Moo Creamery (Pounds Family), Pyrenees Bakery (Laxague Family), Sunview Vineyard (Zaninovich Family), Dewar's Ice Cream (Dewar Family), Knight's Site Services (Napier & Lince Families), Sausages by Jon (Barnes Family), and Balloons by Hilary (Cauzza Family). And thank you to Sarah Price, former volleyball coach and advisory board member, for Jake's Tex-Mex chocolate cake. And we couldn't do it without all our parent volunteers. They were amazing! They helped us set up, worked during the BBQ, and helped us clean up. And a huge shout out to the BBQ crew - the steaks were delicious! Thank you to the FFA Floral Design Class for the beautiful centerpieces. Thank you to all our guests. We hope everyone had a great time. We look forward to having everyone back next year.

Bob Carroll Service Award

Barbara Johnston-Hill

Greg & Kathy McDermott

At the Holy Smoke BBQ, Garces President Steven Antongiovanni '76 and Athletic Director Joan Finch '87 presented Barbara Johnston-Hill and Greg and Kathy McDermott with the Bob Carroll Service Award.

Barb Johnson served as the Garces Girls' Tennis Coach for 20 years and the boys' coach for ten years. She guided her teams to eight valley championships and 18 league titles and coached numerous players to individual titles. In 2011, Barb coached the Girls' Tennis Team to the first Division 1 section championship at Garces.

Greg McDermott is a Garces alumnus. He and his wife Kathy sent their children to Garces, and for over a decade, they were fixtures at all things Garces. We are especially grateful for the stadium seating at Sam Tobias Field and the visitor-side seating in the gym. Greg, along with his brothers Pat and Mike, spearheaded both projects through their company. To this day, the improvements they made are enjoyed by Garces Rams fans.

Please join us in congratulating Coach Barb and the McDermotts!

Sports Broadcasting

Garces Athletics is excited to share some exciting news coming for our sports programs. Starting with our next home football game against Liberty High School on October 24, All home football games will be live streamed to fan.hudl.com. With the action coming straight to your home or office, why not add the fun enthusiasm of students commentating the game. A rotation of students is established for each football game to keep you updated with play-by-play commentary.

We are currently able to broadcast football and soccer with live commentary, and Volleyball and Basketball will be livestreamed with no commentary. We hope that this year is successful, and an audience is met so that we can extend our program to cover more Garces sports.

Follow our channel: fan.hudl.com

If your student hasn’t signed up to participate, and you know they would like to, have them contact Brandon Antongiovanni, Head of Sports Media, antongiovannib2025@mygarces.org
