Sunday, February 9th is the big game, the Super Bowl. Given that the Chiefs and the Eagles are playing again, you might be feeling a little ho-hum about the game. Fear not! We have something to spice up the game a bit.
That Sunday morning we will be hosting our annual Super Bowl Chili Cookoff. This will take place after the 11 AM services in the Family Life Center (FLC).
Here’s how it works: we invite everyone to cook up their best batch of chili or their favorite side dish or dessert to add to the meal. Bring your dish to the Family Life Center (FLC) before the start of the 11:00 AM services. If you have chili, make sure you have your own crockpot.
After the services are over, we will get tables out. The feasting begins at 12:30 PM. You can grab a bowl and get to tasting. The chilis and other dishes will all be numbered, so you can cast your vote for which you think is best. We will vote on the best chili and best side dish/dessert. There are prizes for the winner. We want everyone to participate. The more chili and other dishes the better!
The Super Bowl Chili Cookoff will be put on by the Open Door Sunday school class and the youth mission team. The meal will serve as a fundraiser for the upcoming youth mission trip to Maui. There is no set cost for the meal. We ask that you make a donation with the proceeds going to the youth mission trip.
So…if you’re looking for something to help you stomach watching Mahomes hoist another Lombardi trophy. Or, if you’re bummed about Jerry Jones’ new coaching hire. Come drown your sorrows in a bowl or two of chili.
Of course, if you don’t care about either of those things and just want to spend some good fellowship time with your church family and support a good cause, join us for the Super Bowl Chili Cookoff on February 9th after our late services. It’s always a great time together.
