KHS Students Selected for Ohio Governor's Youth Art Exhibition
Three Kings High School students' artwork advanced to the State competition in the fifty-fifth Ohio Governor's Youth Art Exhibition.
At the Regional level, these works from KHS students were selected out of 674 entries to advance to the state level.
Congratulations to Atlas Alcorn, Grayson Hackbarth, and Bri Ries who were chosen for the State Exhibition.
The Ohio Governor's Youth Art Exhibition will open for viewing on Sunday, May 4 at the Rhodes State Office Tower in Columbus with an awards ceremony and reception. The exhibition will end on Thursday, May 15, 2025.
The OGYAE offers students from across Ohio the opportunity to step into competition, raise their art abilities, their confidence, and reach personal goals and challenges. A program of the Ohio Alliance for Arts Education, in partnership with the Ohio Governor’s Office, Ohio Department of Education and Workforce, and the Ohio Arts Council, sponsors are also secured to offer scholarships for students to continue a post-secondary arts education. This initiative supports arts education at its source, emerging student artists throughout the state. Students receive awards during a ceremony that also acknowledges teachers, families, and sponsors.

Kings Firecrackers Continue to Entertain
The Kings Firecrackers recently performed their halftime routine at Indiana University before a sold-out crowd as the unranked Hoosiers played Purdue University. IU trailed by 12 points at halftime but was energized by the Firecrackers' performance, rallying to defeat the 13th-ranked Boilermakers 73-58.
Kara Adams, a senior studying sports media at Indiana University and a regular on IUSTV Sports, spent some time covering our Kings Firecrackers during their visit. Click the photo below to watch the video she created featuring Coach Shaun Hamilton and members of the team.
The Firecrackers’ season is wrapping up, but they still have exciting shows ahead, including the B1G semifinal game on Saturday, March 15, halftime at the Indiana Pacers on April 4, and the Cleveland Cavaliers on April 13.
Watch for more information on the Kings Firecrackers Sparklers Clinic on April 30 and May 3.

The Kings Early Childhood Center participated in the 2nd Annual Glow Walk last Thursday.
This event invited families to join their preschoolers for glow-in-the-dark fun, including an obstacle course, music, dancing, and more! Students started the walk with the lights on and then the lights went out and the fun began!
The Glow Walk is KECC’s biggest fundraiser and this year, the event raised over $3,300! The money raised will be used to benefit the preschoolers, staff, and PTO. For all of their hard work, the preschoolers were also treated to Ice Cream on Monday, courtesy of Shine Orthodontics.
KECC PTO looks forward to continuing the Glow Walk tradition for many years to come! Congratulations to our littlest Knights!

Kings High School Architecture students traveled to downtown Cincinnati to the offices of SHP Leading Design, the local architecture firm designing the new Kings High School building.
Students worked in teams led by an SHP professional. They held a brainstorming session on phase one of the new high school that includes the proposed designs for the new event entrance and the 2nd-floor courtyard.
The students will go back to SHP on April 7 and will present more refined ideas with visuals they create in class.
Many thanks to SHP for including our talented students in this process.

Senator Wilson spoke about how his career began in banking before becoming a State senator. When asked how the Power 5 Skills apply to his career, Senator Wilson said, "Being career-ready means that you are prepared for any opportunity that comes your way. In an effort to be "green," the District does not send paper flyers home. We use a platform called Peachjar that houses flyers of community programs and resources.
Parents receive approved flyers via email, and they are posted on our digital flyerboard for easy retrieval. Any organization can distribute information to our community by creating an account!
