The northbound SR-55 MacArthur Boulevard off-ramp is open to motorists in its temporary configuration, with one left-turn and one right-turn lane at the MacArthur intersection. The single lane

off-ramp for eastbound MacArthur has been permanently eliminated. 

All improvements to the off-ramp are expected to be complete in 2025. In its ultimate configuration, the northbound

off-ramp will include four lanes at the MacArthur intersection, two left-turn and two right-turn lanes. To learn more about the improvements underway at the MacArthur off-ramp, visit octa.net/55Construction.

As crews continue constructing the new retaining wall along the southbound MacArthur Boulevard on-ramp, an overnight concrete pour is planned on Wednesday, Oct. 30 from midnight to 5 a.m.

This work will require closing the southbound MacArthur Boulevard straight and loop on-ramps, as well as one outside lane on southbound SR-55 at MacArthur.

On Wednesday, Oct. 30 beginning as early as 9 a.m., crews are tentatively scheduled to sweep along the outside lanes in both directions of the freeway. No traffic impacts are expected during this work. Look out for a cleaner corridor!

OCTA, in cooperation with Caltrans, is improving 4 miles of SR-55 between I-405 and I-5. The project will improve traffic flow and reduce travel time by adding one regular lane and one carpool lane in each direction. Also, the project will add merge lanes between several interchanges and stripe carpool lanes for continuous access, augmenting safety on the freeway by making merging easier. These enhancements are expected to create a better, smoother driving experience for motorists.
