A Message from 2025 Board Chair, Arne Olson | |
A Bright Future for the Pleasanton Chamber in 2025!
On January 30, I had the distinct honor of being sworn in as the 2025 Chamber Board Chair by Pleasanton’s new Mayor, Jack Balch. It was a proud and memorable moment, and I’m excited for the year ahead!
The role of Board Chair rotates annually, and like all Board positions, it’s an unpaid but deeply rewarding opportunity to serve our community. Our Board members dedicate anywhere from one to three years to making a meaningful impact, united by a shared passion for the role businesses play in strengthening Pleasanton and beyond. A special thank you to our six-member Executive Committee, which takes on key responsibilities like human resources. You can meet our incredible team at Pleasanton.org.
A Strong and Capable Chamber Team
Late last year, the Executive Committee made a strategic decision to operate without a CEO in 2025. Instead, we are moving forward with a powerhouse team of four dedicated professionals who keep the Chamber running seamlessly:
-
Yianna Theodorou, Chief Operating Officer – With 13 years at the Chamber, Yianna has been a key leader, previously serving as Business Operations Manager.
-
Jamie Renton, Membership Director – A longtime Pleasanton resident and active Chamber Ambassador, Jamie brings enthusiasm and a deep commitment to member engagement.
-
Kate D’Or, Events & Communications – With 18 years at the Chamber in various roles, Kate’s experience is invaluable in orchestrating successful events and communications.
-
Jeanette Schaub, Administrative Assistant – Since joining last year, Jeanette has revitalized our social media presence, keeping us connected with the community in fresh and engaging ways. Her involvement began in 2019 as a Chamber member and ambassador before officially joining the staff.
Beyond their individual roles, this exceptional team works together to support monthly mixers, ribbon cuttings, and special events that bring our business community together.
A Bold, Impactful Mission
Recognizing the need for a refreshed, more powerful mission statement, a dedicated group of directors—led by Shareef Mahdavi—crafted a new guiding principle for the Chamber:
We are the community that helps businesses start, grow, and thrive.
This statement encapsulates our purpose and drives everything we do. As we move into 2025, our priorities are clear: grow and retain membership, host successful events, and maintain a strong financial foundation. Thanks to our newly formed Finance Committee—comprising Bob Rossi (Treasurer), Jacqueline Brown (Vice Chair, Governance), and our COO—we’ve developed a sustainable budget that ensures a thriving future for the Chamber.
Strengthening Our Relationship with the City
Another key focus in 2025 is fostering a stronger relationship with the City of Pleasanton. While challenges have arisen in recent years, I’m optimistic about our path forward. The City’s formation of a budget review committee—aiming to achieve a balanced budget by June 30, 2025—is a promising step. Through collaboration, we can align business and community interests to create lasting benefits for all.
Join Us – Everyone is Welcome!
I truly believe 2025 will be a year of growth, collaboration, and prosperity for the Pleasanton Chamber and our community. If you’re not yet a member—whether you own a business or not—I encourage you to join! Many of our members aren’t business owners (including myself), but we all recognize the vital role businesses play in Pleasanton’s success.
Let’s make 2025 a year of connection, innovation, and progress. I look forward to working together to build a stronger Pleasanton!
