NEW! Yoga for Seniors and Healthy Aging
Dates: January 11th - March 29th, 2025 (12 weeks)
Day/Time: Saturdays, 9:30am - 10:30am
Location: Brantwood Park Fieldhouse (39 Onslow Crescent)
Our newest CAG Adult Fitness/Wellness class is not only geared for older adults, but is open for all ages who are looking for a gentler approach for yoga. We are also excited to offer the class on Saturday mornings, to expand our weekend Fitness/Wellness programming for greater convenience for our clients!
The physical benefits from gentle movements and postures are recognized, but yoga offers other benefits as well: through breathing and meditative techniques that can soothe the mind and in turn, offer a broader sense of well-being.
| | |
The class will offer modifications to meet the needs of students, providing a strong, challenging but equally relaxed and meditative yoga practice.
Bring a yoga mat, some comfy clothes, and a sense of curiosity! Additional props such as chairs, blocks, straps, and foam mats will be available at the Field house.

Children's Garden Vandalism | |
A Statement from the Children's Garden:
"We are sad to report that in mid-December, the Children’s Garden was once again targeted by vandals. The front gates were badly damaged, and the decision has been made to remove them all together. They were posing a safety hazard in their damaged state, and the volunteer group that maintains the garden is not currently in a position to repair or replace them.
In addition to the damaged gates, it appears that the vandals also attempted to steal a rain barrel. It was found by a neighbour over a block away, abandoned. Other items were strewn around the garden and there was damage to other fencing as well as fruiting trees. Unfortunately, this is not the first instance of vandalism in the garden this year. This is a second, following an incident back in August of 2024. Both cases have been reported to the police and Children's Garden board members are working with the City of Ottawa on potential solutions.
The Children’s Garden is a curated space, lovingly designed, planted and maintained by our Garden Manager, our volunteer board, and a dedicated team of volunteer community gardeners. It is an asset to our community. Our goal, as always, is to make the garden an inviting space for people to gather, play, connect with nature and get a taste of fresh, organically grown produce.
The board is extremely grateful to our dedicated volunteers, the broader OOE community and the City of Ottawa for their continued work and support.
For more information on recent events or to get involved in the Garden, please contact us at ottawachildrensgardeninfo@gmail.com."
