Mulmur Receives Funding for Street Art Project

This week, Minister of Rural Affairs Lisa Thompson and MPP Sylvia Jones visited Mulmur to meet with Mayor Janet Horner and announce that the Ontario government has awarded funding to support Mulmur's ongoing street art project.

The funding, will be used specifically to enhance several key locations within the Township, including the Bruce Trail crosswalks and access points, boundary roads, and village intersections. These sites were chosen not only for their role in providing access to the area's natural trails but also for their high visibility in areas with significant pedestrian traffic. The goal is to use creative street art to elevate the visual appeal of these areas, making them more engaging for people exploring the region's beauty, and to serve as a traffic calming measure.

The project is expected to be completed later this year.

Honeywoods #1 Fan

Every once in a while there is someone who comes into your life and makes a profound impact, whether or not you knew it at the time. When we talk about “the heart of the community” we think about the arena, but if we speak to the “heart of the building”…we refer to Shirley Rabbits. This story is dedicated to Shirley and her years spent cheering on kids as Honeywood’s #1 Fan.

Whenever you are at the rink take a moment to smile, give words of encouragement and cheer…you never know who might need it.

Great news for tree enthusiasts and environmental advocates! The Mulmur Hills Tree Program is now accepting online orders. Thanks to a generous subsidy from the Maple Leaves Forever Foundation (MLF), planting Native Canadian Maple Trees has never been more affordable.

3-4 ft. potted Sugar Maples are available for just $3.75 each or $15.50 for 10 seedlings-a remarkable price made possible through MLF’s subsidy.

Maple Leaves Forever is a charitable foundation dedicated to advocating for and supporting the planting of Native Canadian Maple Trees. Over the past two decades, this organization has made a tremendous impact, supporting the planting of over 134,800 Native Canadian Maple Trees. To put this in perspective, that’s enough trees to line 1,241 kilometers (771 miles) of Ontario’s roadsides—the equivalent of driving from Huntsville to Thunder Bay!

Beyond tree planting, Maple Leaves Forever sponsors several initiatives aimed at environmental conservation and community engagement, including:

  • Ontario Envirothon: Promoting environmental education for youth.
  • One Bench One Tree: Enhancing green spaces with sustainable planting.
  • Grand Trees Climate Change Solutions: Addressing climate change through tree planting.
  • Highway of Heroes Tribute: Honoring Canada’s fallen heroes with living memorials.

These programs emphasize the importance of restoring and preserving Canada’s natural heritage while actively combating climate change.

Order Your Trees Today! Don’t miss this opportunity to make a difference. Place your order now and mark your calendar for tree pick-up on May 2 and 3, 2025. Together, we can restore a piece of Canada’s natural legacy and ensure a greener future for generations to come.

Let’s plant the seeds for change—one maple tree at a time! Ordering deadline is February 21.

With plenty of sunlight in our beautiful Mulmur, installing solar panels can significantly reduce your dependence on fossil fuels while also leading to substantial savings on your electricity bills over time.

Embracing this renewable energy source not only benefits your wallet but also contributes to the Township's vision for a greener community, ensuring that we preserve the stunning natural beauty that surrounds us. By making the switch to solar, you are joining a movement that values environmental stewardship and community well-being—how wonderful is that?
