Volunteer Opportunities and Announcements

Spring is upon us! We have some fun ways to get involved in this warmer season.

Our previous email listed an incorrect date for our Dreaming of Home Breakfast. The updated date, April 10, is indicated below. We apologize for the inconvenience.

Have we told you lately how much we appreciate you?! We do! We hope you'll join us for our Volunteer Appreciation Lunch on Thursday, March 27 from 11:30-1:00.

Please note that each job includes the location at which it will be held. As we learn more about construction dates at our ADC Family Campus, we will send out an updated list of volunteer opportunities to prepare for the next cohort of families.

Housing/Administration

Whether you like landscaping or libraries, there is something here for you this month!

Many of these dates are flexible. Sign up and we'll be in touch to find a date that works for everyone.

Monthly Supply Sorting (FTA Campus, Eastside)

Date(s): Wednesday, March 26 and April 23

Time: 9:30-11:30am

Location: Eastside-Saranam Classroom (1100 Eubank Blvd. NE, Suite A)

Details: Help us sort and fulfill each family's monthly supply orders. Families order from a set list and we gather and organize them for pick-up.

Requirements: none

Monthly Supply Sorting (ADC Family Campus- Westside)

Date(s): Wednesday, March 12 and April 9

Time: 9:30-11:30am

Location: Westside- Saranam ADC Family Campus Office (4651 Montano Blvd. NW-Home #1)

Details: Help us sort and fulfill each family's monthly supply orders. Families order from a set list and we gather and organize them for pick-up.

Bike Tire Care

Date(s): flexible (late March, early April)

Time: flexible

Location: Eastside- Saranam Weil Family Center (10400 San Jacinto Ave. NE)

Details: Do you love bike maintenance? We need you! With the help of a generous donor, we can provide bikes to our families. Now we need someone skilled in maintenance to slime their tires to make sure they can stand up to New Mexico goatheads. Flexible date/time.

Library Reorganization

Date(s): flexible (late March, early April)

Time: flexible

Location: Eastside- Saranam Weil Family Center (10400 San Jacinto Ave. NE)

Details: We are doing a reorganization of our library. We are looking for 2-3 volunteers to help us move books to new shelves.

Requirements: none

Landscaping

Date(s): March 1, 15

Time: 1:00pm-3:00pm

Location: Westside- ADC Family Campus (4651 Montano Blvd. NW)

Details: We have some landscaping projects we are tackling at our ADC Family Campus. Help us clear weeds and debris to get the campus looking great!

Requirements: None. We have tools but if you have your own, that would be great as well!

Sign Refresh

Date(s): flexible

Time: Flexible

Location: Eastside- Saranam Weil Family Center (10400 San Jacinto Ave. NE)

Details: Our sign on Eubank has weathered some sun damage over the years and could use a quick sanding and paint refresh.

Requirements: This job is right next to the street, so this job is best suited for an adult with good spatial awareness.

Wood Chopping

Date(s): flexible

Time: flexible (should take about 1 hour)

Location: Eastside- Saranam Weil Family Center (10400 San Jacinto Ave. NE)

Details: We have two large tree stumps that we need to cut into smaller pieces to move. We need a volunteer handy with an ax or chainsaw to help make it happen. You're even welcome to keep the wood after if you want!

Requirements: Chainsaw or ax

Campus Cleanup

Date(s): Saturday, April 12, 2025

Time: 10am-12pm

Location: Westside- ADC Family Campus (4651 Montano Blvd. NW)

Details: Join us for our monthly campus cleanup! Our projects change every month but could include simple repairs, painting, landscaping or organizing. This is a great opportunity for families!

Share Recipes

Date(s): flexible

Time: flexible

Location: Remote

Details: Love to cook? We are looking for volunteers to share a few recipes with our families that are budget-friendly and kid-approved. Extra bonus if you can include accessible nutritional information!

Note: these recipes will be shared in a monthly newsletter to families.

New Decorator Information Session

Date(s): Wed 3/26

Time: 12pm-1:30pm OR 5pm-6:30pm

Location: Zoom

Details: Want to learn more about decorating? Join us for an information session for new volunteers. Just sign up for one time; both sessions will include the same information.

We will send Zoom information via email before each session.

Requirements: None.

Education

Our families are deep into their spring semester of learning! For first year families, this means studying to pass their GED or introductory college classes. For second years, this could include finishing certificates and more!

Share a Meal- ADC Family Campus

Date(s): April 2

Time: 5:00pm

Location: Saranam temporary classroom at Mesa View United Methodist Church

Details: Do you love cooking? We like to start out each month by sharing a meal in our family nights. We need someone to provide a meal for about 30 people.

Requirements: none

Financial Education Workshops

ADC Family Campus

Date(s):

March 25 (Budget workshop)

April 1 (Credit workshop)

Time: 1-3pm

Location: Saranam temporary classroom at Mesa View United Methodist Church

Details: We will start an extensive financial education series with our families at our ADC Family Campus in the later spring. We need 1-2 volunteers for each of the days listed to help work closely with families to understand the concepts of the workshop and implement the lessons in their personal finances.

Group Projects

These are the PERFECT projects for groups. Whether you have a book club, church group or a close group of friends, there are some a fun ways to give back together.

Patio Sanding and Repainting

Date: Flexible (early-mid April)

Location: Saranam Weil Family Center (10400 San Jacinto Ave. NE)

Details: The sun strikes again! The wood trim around our patio could use a revamp. We need to sand and repaint it.

Note- this is a GROUP project. Please only sign up if you have a group already assembled.
