FAU Joins the Nation's Most Elite Research

Universities and Colleges


Florida Atlantic has officially established itself among the most prestigious colleges and universities in the United States for its notable accomplishments in research. It is now designated "R1: Very High Research Spending and Doctorate Production" by the Carnegie Classification of Institutions of Higher Education, and shares this status with less than 5% of nearly 4,000 universities in the nation. FAU Engineering Gets Micro-CT Scanning System to Transform Research

Effective April 1, 2025, the review and processing of Material Transfer Agreements (MTAs) and Data Use Agreements (DUAs) will transition from the Office of Sponsored Programs to the Office of Technology Development.

FAU Member Selected by National Academy of Inventors


The National Academy of Inventors (NAI) Senior Member Advisory Committee and Board of Directors recently selected Sarah Du, Ph.D., from the College of Engineering and Computer Science as a 2025 senior member in the National Academy of Inventors. Du will be inducted at the 14th NAI Annual Conference in June held in in Atlanta, Ga.

FAU Published in Journal of Small Business and Enterprise Development


Kevin Cox, director of the Adams Center for Entrepreneurship, and Regina Thompson, assistant director of Strategic and Economic Initiatives, and collaborators, recently published a paper on "Unpacking the Minimum Viable Product (MVP): A Framework for Use, Goals, and Essential Elements" in the Journal of Small Business and Enterprise Development. New Program for Faculty Members



The FAU Office of Research Development is offering a program to assist university researchers prepare competitive NSF CAREER grant applications. The program will offer a kickoff session on best practices and feedback on proposal drafts. Please see here for more information.

Research Connections: A Networking Event Focused on AI

Beginning May 25, National Institutes of Health (NIH) will adopt Common Forms for Biographical Sketch and Current and Pending (Other) Support. NIH will require use of SciENcv to complete the Forms and an ORCID ID persistent identifier. For details, see NIH notice number NOT-OD-24-163 and this NIH page.

 

Welcome Gilda Jean


Florida native Gilda Jean recently joined the Division of Research Clinical Research Unit as a research bone densitometry technologist.


Jean earned her bachelor of science in biological sciences from Florida Atlantic University and a radiologic technology ARRT certification from West Boca School of Radiologic Technology.


As a radiologic technician for more than 10 years, she said she enjoyed interacting and helping patients. She also loves learning, hopes to advance her career with an advanced degree and is excited to assist in making an impact in healthcare research studies at Florida Atlantic.


Outside of work, she enjoys spending time with family, cooking and relaxing at home. 


"FAU is my alma mater, so it only made sense to want to return and give back to the institution that I earned my degree from," Jean said.
